This is crazy right? She admits that it's probably a fluke, but what was he doing on the potty in the first place? I don't need to be putting him on the toilet, right? Like I have another year before I need to mess with all that? Twy sentwa?
At 14 months? Lol. Yeah, don't worry about this. DS did start occasionally going on the potty at 18 months, but it was more of a game and imitating what he saw me doing. He's about to turn 3 and we are just now doing serious potty training.
As for what a baby was doing on the potty in the first place, our nanny started DS on the potty at about that age and @cse1960 is right on...starting him that early wasn't productive and just wound up frustrating all of us. (FWIW, he only started going #2 predictably like 2 months ago. That's right. He was like 3 1/2. omg.)
FWIW, DD is much more interested in the potty than DS ever was, so we set her on there regularly and she'll go probably one out of every three times that we give her the opportunity, and even that one time still feels like a fluke and she's 2.
My cousin, her sister and her mom(my aunt) were posting about how their(they all live together it's cousins kid) 13 month old has been going potty on the toilet.
I blocked them because it was annoying to read multiple times of day, but the posts have stopped so I'm unsure if they realized people don't want to hear it (unlikely) or if it was all a fluke.(more likely)
The earliest I have even heard doctors of books say it can be done is 18 months or I guess suggested to start trying. C was potty trained by the end of August, but we knew she was able to start holding things, was aware of when she had to do things like go poop and we used school as a good motivator.
If things had gone the way my inlaws wanted, I would have been potty training her while pregnant with K and that just wasn't happening. lol
My DD has been using the potty of and on since about that age. I'll sit her on the potty while I go s I can pee in peace so e times she pees or poops sometimes she doesn't. It's not really that big a deal and I didn't consider nor was I trying to PT her. She probably was just trying out the potty and is excited she went its really NBD
It's really not a big deal, all kids potty train at their own pace. My sitter is working on potty training with her son who is 14 months, sometimes he goes, some times he doesn't. She's mostly introducing him to the idea. My baby book says I was potty trained by 18 months, and my niece and nephew were both 3 when they were potty trained. It really doesn't matter, and it's nothing to stress about, as long as they are potty trained by kindergarten, then who cares?
I was out of diapers at 15 months. I just refused to wear them anymore, which drove my parents nuts. I had a few accidents, but I was just done with diapers. I was also the youngest, and my sisters aren't that much older than me. It really is crazy how much more quickly 2nd and 3rd children pick up on things (sometimes) than the 1st born by watching their siblings.
FTR, just because I was out of diapers and pretty vocal at 15 months doesn't mean I'm smart. I'm dumb as shit somedays. Don't worry about potty training your baby if he's not ready yet. My nephew wasn't ready until he was 3, but when he was ready, he was completely ready. As long as he's out of diapers by the time he starts school, don't stress.
