Who is "fasting" for Good Friday today? I just failed and had cappuccino. But I plan on no meat and no eggs at least. My mom will totally roll her eyes because in her mind if you cheat, you might as well give up. I am bringing the girls to the Greek area this afternoon to go to a few churches and see the flower arrangements. Tomorrow we are dyeing eggs and Sunday Easter at my parents'. Any exciting plans for you all? I am so excited about the summery weather we are getting this weekend, perfect for Easter.
I would love to go tonight and tomorrow night but my church is in the city (30 minute drive) and the girls are too young IMO, they will be exhausted. I have never been to the Easter Sunday service.

Orthodox checking in! Haha.
Seriously, fasting is so much easier thanks to places like Trader Joe's and Whole Foods in my area. Now I just have things like almond milk or dairy-free coconut yogurt. I no longer feel malnourished! My Greek friend (who is buying the same) said, "But let's be real guys, they didn't have almond or soy milk back in the day." Oh well
When I was in High School, I would cheat and then be like, "Oh well. Might as well start over tomorrow!" Drove my mom crazy.
I'm hoping for nice weather in Chicago. The flowers and trees are blooming and it actually feels like Easter! (Minus, uh, no Easter candy at the store anymore). I celebrated H's easter in his home town and they got a foot of snow that day. It felt more like Christmas so this will be nice.
I'm hoping my mom doesn't buy a ridiculous amount of eggs to dye. Sometimes we do the pastels, other times tons of red eggs with the slavic designs.

My dad and his whole side of the family are Coptic Orthodox. His family will be celebrating this weekend, but he now celebrates with us (my mom is Catholic and my husband and I are Lutheran).
I pray that this will be a peaceful weekend throughout the world for all those in remembrance and celebrating.
