I love art and when I make my fortune hope to be a patroness of the arts. I've found some really talented artists on etsy and other sites, but it's hard to expand your horizon when you are so busy working and doing kids/house/life stuff. Post a pic of a piece you are into lately and link to the artist!
This is a piece by Kim Berggen. I bought a print the day my son started preschool (wish i was quick enough to buy the original), and have bought two original paintings from her over the years. I absolutely love her work.
Her stuff is pretty realistic, which isn't necessarily my style, but in person it's just mesmerising. I don't know what she does to her art to make it so engaging, but its wonderful. The orginal on this acrylic is like $3800.
My favorite *I'll never own an original EVER* artist:
This piece, in particular ... OMG. First, it's pretty big - 60" x 36". Second, it's done entirely with oil paint applied with the palette knife. So it's 3D in the best possible way. It's enthralling. And also $25k. So there's that. But I like to go into the gallery where it's displayed (in Truckee) and stare at it longingly every few months.
