I just found out I'm PG, not planned, and I have two halfs I'm doing this summer. I really want to still run them. I'm figuring by the Disney one I will be 21ish weeks. I can still train and run right? Right now I follow Hal hidgon intermediate plan and my thinking is to follow the novice 2 instead now. WDYT? Of course I'm going to talk to my OB about this too. I'm just looking for tips and advice. Thanks.
I think the general consensus is that you can continue the same physical activity through pregnancy, you just don't want to push it harder or start new. So, if you've been running you'll likely be able to continue as long as you are comfortable.
One of the girls in my personal training group found out she was pregnant recently as well. Her Dr. said that she could continue with everything she had been doing. Including lifting, running, boot camp class, we do some pretty high intensity exercies, and even crunches and things on her back - although he did say that after 14 weeks or so the crunches would be pretty useless.
Agree with everything PP said. Just listen to your body. Every pregnancy is different, but for me, 21 weeks would have been a great time to run a half because I wasn't big yet, and 2nd tri is generally when you get all the energy back.
I have no experience in this but congratulations! Talk to your Dr. and go from there, but my guess is you will be fine to run as long as your body tells you it is ok (may need to slow down a bit!)
As long as this isn't your first half or anything, you should be fine. I ran a few halfs and a marathon prior to getting pregnant in November and then ran a half at 20 weeks and a 10-miler at 23 weeks.
I'm cutting back some now, but that's more because I've been really busy with a move.
Sure! Just listen to your OB and your body. I ran a half at 28 weeks with my third. my main concern with training over the Summer was not getting overheated. I stayed in the shade, dranks lots of water, and went out in the early morning.

Barring medical complications, you can absolutely run those races. I ran 2 half marathons and 2 10-mile races while pregnant, and 3 of those races were during mid-late second trimester. I was slow, but it was totally fine.

Thank you everyone I'm used to getting up early and beating the heat and I have treadmill too if it gets too hot. I'm in much better shape this pregnancy then my last 2 so I'm hoping I will be ok. With DD2 I was able to walk 3-4 miles a almost daily until I was 34 weeks.
Congrats! I am interested in these answers, since we are TTC, but I have no qualms about the fact that I will probably have zero energy to follow through on running while PG. Good luck!
