Looking up stuff for Ellie's birthday party (she wants Strawberry Shortcake) and I'm on the Oriental Trading Catalog website-and this popped up when I searched for Strawberry Shortcake (was going to shorten to SS but that didn't sound right):
Strawberry Shortsnake
With scales from sliced strawberries, this scrumptious snake is sure to be snatched up with smiles. A dessert as delightful to dish out as it is to look at, you’ll love the way this cold-blooded cake gives your Chinese New Year the finish you desire!
Ingredients: 1 9x13 pan of your favorite shortbread 1 quart strawberries 4 tbsp. powdered sugar 1 cup whipping cream 3 tbsp. powdered sugar
Directions: 1. Cut two matching snake shapes from sheets of shortbread cake. 2. Slice strawberries and mix with powder sugar. Arrange berries on bottom half of snake. 3. Mix whipping cream and powdered sugar in chilled bowl and beat until stiff peaks form. 4. Cover berry layer with whipped cream. Add second shortbread snake. 5. Spread on whipped cream and add a layer of strawberries. 6. For the snake's head, use a whole berry placed at the end of the shortcake. Press a pair of mini chocolate chips for eyes.
