I hate under wire, but I know I am going to have to deal with it for this. When I normally wear an under wire bra, the under wire digs into me and lays weird and just feels uncomfortable. I keep imagining that feeling without straps and wondering how in the world I'm going to be comfortable/bra will stay up.
It is for a bridesmaid dress, the dress is lined and has a sturdy bodice inside that is fairly long. Almost like a built in bra but everyone is all "you still need a bra for this dress!" Logically, if the bodice was altered correctly, it might not need a bra. I DON'T KNOW. I still need to get it altered, the bridal shop wouldn't do it because "we don't do that anymore", then the person I was going to use fell through.
I don't know if I should buy one of those longer bras that pretty much looks like a hook and eye corset or what.

I get strapless bras from lane bryant. I love them. I get the ones that have removable straps, so you can wear them strapless or with the straps. They are my favorite bras. They are the "seamless 5-way convertable bras"
I have Es and for my brothers wedding I didn't wear a bra. The dress had boning in the front and sides. I had it altered and had them take it in so it fit really snug at the waist so I didn't have to worry about tugging on it. Strapless bras are horrible.
No matter how good the dress is no strapless dress will hold up a D or DD cup all night - especially if you're dancing. I think you'll want to consider the goddess bras. I wore one at my wedding and it was great. No movement at all.
You can order them online (I think even amazon has them). They are not the most comfortable thing but I don't really think that is a concern here. You want your boobs to not move and your dress not to fall.

I actually just found it on amazon about 10 minutes ago and ordered one! It's free two day shipping and free return so if I don't like it, I didn't waste a ton of time.
Holy crap. I would die. I'd have to use duck tape.
My mom is bringing me some bras from the US. I don't get it though. It isn't as if there aren't any big boobed women running around here, so they have to get their bras somewhere, right?
This this this. I'm a 42H and this bra is like magic. I laughed at the lady in the store when she suggested it because i was convinced nothing would hold me up, but this did... Almost better than my strapped bras.
And it's not super uncomfortable. I've worn it for 14+ hours twice now.
