You're a great mom. These things happen, and yes, they make you feel like shit for a little while, but remember none of it is your fault. You're doing the best you can!
Every kid grows different, learns different, etc. I'm sure she'll be just fine.
Why do you feel like a shit mom? Toe walking and low iron levels aren't your fault. I don't even understnad this. Why are you blaming yourself for these things?
If your child had food allergies or a speech delay or some other random thing beyond your control, would it make you feel like a bad mother? Stop doing this to yourself. Stop. You are a great mom. You found out your child needs some medical attention and you are going to follow up and get it for her.
Is it bad to walk on tippy toes? I'm honestly asking.
I ALWAYS walked on my tippy toes. ALWAYS. I actually had to think and concentrate not to do it. I remember doing that when I started school because I didn't want to be made fun of.
I have/had awesome calf and leg muscles. It really helped with horse back riding, dance and cheerleading.
I hope this helps? Also, my 2 yo DD also walks on her tippy toes sometimes. BTW, I'm really short at 5 foot even and was always behind on height. No major health or development issues.
Aw puddle. You are an awesome mom. Sounds like you have a good pedi that is going to check on things. FTR, I knew quite a few kids that walked on their tiptoes when I did daycare. They all walk just fine now ?
My son walked on his toes. Our doctor told us he had a shortened Achilles' tendon. He also told us most fast runners have this. This was about 28 years ago so I'm sure information is at least somewhat different now. I believe we were told it could be surgically fixed, he didn't recommend it because it wasn't severely impacting our son's walking. Turns out our son (and daughter) are very fast runners.
I don't know if the diagnoses for our son has anything to do with your daughter's situation but it sounds similar.
You cannot control these things, the fact that these things are bothering you proves that you are a good mommy. She'll grow out of these things soon enough!
I tip toed too. But only when not wearing shoes. At 5 my doctor recommended that I just wear tennis shoes more often and that seemed to nip it in the bud.
None of this is stuff to get upset over!! Tippy toe walking just happens, and I hear it happens with a lot of kids. No big deal, and you couldn't have done anything to prevent it. And, seriously, nothing you do is going to impact her height. Obviously things like malnutrition can affect height, but this isn't what is going on here. It wouldn't even occur to me to get down on myself over my kid's height (which, btw, is only in the 10th percentile.) Growth speeds up and slows down. I went from being at the top of the chart for height for most of my childhood, but then stopped growing a bit early and ended up at a very average 5'5". All through my childhood the doctors said I would be 5'10". It has never even occurred to me to blame my mother for my drop in height percentage. I mean, really that is just silly. Next year she might be in the 50th percentile, and maybe she'll stay there until adulthood. You just never know, and it is what it is. And, so what, they are checking her iron levels. If they are low, you can give her an iron supplement. Some kids are difficult eaters and you just deal with it. Thankfully, we have really great supplements so even picky eaters will stay completely healthy.
