I think she knew he was up to something; I don't think she knew he was planning on bombing a marathon or trying to make his way to new york. I feel bad for her, but I don't think she shared the same views as him.
I would imagine she noticed he had changed a bit but I don't think she knew what he was planning.
Kids build bombs in their rooms and their parents don't know.
(CNN) -- Investigators have found residue of explosives in the Cambridge, Massachusetts, apartment slain bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev shared with his wife and young daughter, a source briefed on the investigation told CNN on Friday. The residue turned up in at least three places, the source said: the kitchen table, the kitchen sink and the bathtub. Suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev had previously told investigators that he and his brother built the devices in Tamerlan's home, according to another U.S. law enforcement official regularly briefed on the investigation.
I assume she noticed it on her kitchen table, sink, and bath tub.

Residue is the key word. Just because there was residue doesn't mean they physically put the bombs together in front of her.

Personally, I can't identify bomb residue on my table, sink or bathtub. I'd probably just think it was dirty.
There were bombs in the apartment and the guy was a crazy radical ... How could she not know ? Saudi Arabia and Russia knew this guy was a threat but his wife didn't know?

And really, if he worked on it while she wasn't home and hid it when she got home, she really wouldn't have known. I know I probably wouldn't, I don't exactly go around looking for bombs in my house.
I think she was completely under his thumb and went along with whatever he told her. I don't think it would have gone so well if she questioned him on things. I'm sure she knew something wasn't quite right.
Part of me instantly thinks - how could she not have known. Reportedly they lived in a small apartment.
Then my brain kicks in and I think about 1/2 of our garage. Half is mine and I constantly have to fight H from encroaching on it.
The other half is his - he could have ANYTHING in there and first, I couldn't get to it for the junk and secondly because he has so much junk I wouldn't realize he was building a bomb. I might wonder though if I saw several small pressure cookers because that would be odd.
Then going a bit further. With the younger one in college, the older one could have told his wife he was helping his brother build something for a class.
I still have a hard time imagining that she didn't know - but on the other hand - it could happen in my own house and I wouldn't know it.
I think she knew (or should have figured it out) that they were up to something. But I do not think she knew the extent of damage they were capable of going. I am pretty sure I would figure out something was up if there were strange things, in my house. I also feel like he would have at least to began to act somewhat differently. Although, I am not sure I would want to confront him about it...I feel bad for her in a way, but at the end of the day, she is still alive and has all of her limbs, so frankly I have trouble feeling that bad for her.
Like shopgirl said, I'm betting that he had her under his thumb and was maybe emotionally abusing her. She may have felt too intimidated to question him or report him.

I didn't read that. I wonder if she was involved or was pressured to keep his secrets.

Saudi Arabia and Russia also had people spying on this guy who understood his language extremely well....
I haven't been keeping up with all the news on this, but I thought she only spoke english? He could have talked about things without her ever knowing what he was saying, no?
So Uncle Ruslan is an attorney, graduate of Duke Law.........
His ex-wife is the daughter of a former high official with the CIA, Graham Fuller.
It's interesting information that, while not central to this discussion, does relate. The wife has released the body. Uncle Ruslan claimed it. It is interesting that he's an attorney.
I also believe her and feel bad for her. I feel especially bad that she gave up her life for this guy (quit school, married young, converted to Islam, had a baby very young) and he was such a scumbag. It's going to take years to get her life back in order.
When the news broke about her, my mind immediately went to "this is a girl who is really pissed off at her parents". Her dad's a Phillips Exeter/Yale grad like his dad; she had a fairly privileged upbringing. She got arrested for shoplifting at Old Navy, then heads off to college where she hooks up with a boxer?
And she's OK with working 80 hours a week? And with her DH heading out of the country for 6 months? Yeah, there's a story there.
I have to imagine that minimally she could sense that there was something going on, even if she didn't know the plan or details. Even if she just sensed that something was off. But I also agree that she was probably not in a place where she could ask a lot of questions.
I hope for their daughter's sake that the mother can clear her name and move far far away from the rest of that family.
