My favorite beach books in the past have been the books by Mary Kay Andrews, The Reef by Nora Roberts, Fortune's Rocks by Anita Shreve, and the Kick Keswick series by Marne Davis Kellogg. They were all fun, quick reads and didn't make me think too hard which I like for a beach trip.
If your looking for smut try Maya Banks. Her KGI series is good and hot. If she's into vampires try the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward their pretty hot though the writing in the first couple is cheesy but gets better.
On my beach honeymoon, I read Water for Elephants, Outlander, a Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood book. I finished the last one as my plane was landing at my home airport. I also agree with Black Dagger Brotherhood.
Where'd You Go, Bernadette? is great. I'd also recommend anything by Carl Hiaasen and both books by Stephanie Perkins (Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door). I think light and fun is the way to go on a vacation. :-)

I agree with Where'd You Go, Bernadette? I kind of want to recommend Gone Girl because it's a great beach read, but I don't know that it's the best book for someone who just got married, lol.
I (shamefully) love the Elin Hilderbrand books for the beach, too.
