Why was your week such a roller coaster? Sorry if you've posted already, I really haven't been keeping up on the forum like I usually do.
Sick kid, thus possibly not going oot for H's marathon (for which he's trained since december) and being extra neurotic about cleaning to keep anyone else from getting sick, closing on house today, started major aesthetic renovation on house 2 hours after closing.
Our realtor actually said we were the "most calm, cool, and collected first time home buyers he's ever seen." H laughed and assured him that I was definitely freaking out, but am just really good at hiding it. Thanks H. :\
What is your favorite part of your new house and what will you do on your first night there?
Honestly, I love the outdoor space. When we toured it the grounds (lol at that term) were covered in snow, so we had no idea how much landscaping had been done. There's probably 100k worth of landscaping put in, in addition to the covered slate veranda, deck, and paver patio. AND - the homeowners left us their porch swing, which is suspended from the deck over the patio. I about died today when we saw the gardens in full bloom, and the patio and everything.
The first night there H will probably try to get lucky, but I'll probably turn him down out of sheer exhaustion from the move/unpacking. Unless I've been boozed up. Then he'll get some action.
How many tubes of lipstick/lipgloss are in your purse right now?
What's your stand on men wearing Capri pants?
color: tie between purple and yellow. This season I'm really into the yellow, but I tend to gravitate towards purple in general.
lipstick/gloss in purse: 3 lip glosses, 2 lipsticks, and a chapstick. Along with a shitton of other stuff required for me/my kids. I carry huge purses for a reason.
Men in capris? no. I'm trying to picture my 6'1" thin as a rail H in capris and am laughing my ass off.
I envy you being able to buy a house. I don't know when/if I ever will be able to, and of course I constantly house dream and browse.
don't get down on yourself. We're 33, nearly 34, and this is our first house. We just haven't been in a position to be comfortable taking that risk/making that investment until now, for a number of reasons. Your time will come.
@quesera: the outdoor space is seriously what sold the home for us, even before we realized how extensive the gardens were. We love hanging out outside, and while we loved the potential of the inside, we kept walking towards the windows to take in the view of the golf green and wetlands. It is just so pretty. Then to find out there were all these gardens ready to go? Icing on the cake. I feel like I should write the previous owners a thank you note or something!
