Our town had a big garage sale day today and we had a long wish list.
Patio table and chairs - no luck in cheap ones. Found a teak set for 250$, which is probably a good deal, but more than we wanted to spend, and more maintenance than we wanted to deal with (annual sanding and oiling).
Bookshelf for kids books: found a solid pine one in good shape, I will paint it (apparently I didn't learn from the bookshelf I just finished painting!) 8$.
Bedside table for DS: 3$, cheapo white cube thing. We had a wood table that he was using. He climbed on it and it broke, lol. So for 3$ it is a good temporary item.
Wooden step stool for kids bathroom: 5$. @justdairy where do you buy the cleaner? Another question as long as I paged you, how much would you say a typical very rural Midwest high school graduation gift should be? My cousin in rural Iowa is graduating and I am out of the loop. Is 20$ going to make me look cheap? (My parents will give a much nicer gift, fwiw).
I just finished scrubbing our rental house from top to bottom (you could eat off of any surface n that house, yo). I used the ceramabrite cleaner and scrub pads that are meant for glass cooktops on everything. They got gunk off the white cabinets, they cleaned the sticky crud off the stainless steel appliances, they got tea and coffee stains out of the stainless steel sink, they got crud off the laminate floors that was on them when we moved in. It was amazing. And finally, a Leopold Stickley cherry drop leaf dining room table for 150$!
It feels nice to have furniture in rooms of the new house, instead of just boxes!
