Actually we kind of used someone here in FL. Let me find the card when I get home. I don't know them as "the best" since we only moved here 6 months ago but they got us a great rate. It's higher than TX but that is standard for FL.
Have you had car insurance in your name previously? If not, it is going to be super expensive. Can you add your car to your H's insurance? That would be more affordable.

I didn't find this to be true for us- we have USAA. I've heard they have great customer service, I would look into it if you qualify.
We have USAA as well. Yes, they are great and have good rates if you qualify.
However, someone who has never had insurance is going to pay more than if they were previously insured. This also goes for a gap in coverage. If you have had a gap, you'll pay more than if you didn't.
