I just want to say that I LOOOVE their new house. The layout and "bones" are SO much better than that hot mess they are in now. I love the sunroom and room sizes. The lot looks beautiful. I'm actually looking forward to seeing what they will do with this one because I have a feeling they will return back to the style of the first house. I hope lol
I was making a mental list of what *I* would do in that house (bright white trim anyone?!?) and hoping they go back to what they know for this one. Tons of potential!
i love it too. it has so much character and the lot is amazing. i can't wait to see what they do with it. they're definitely back on my read list again.
I'm excited to see what they do there. I think it has a ton of potential. I hope they do either a video or a slideshow of the outside too. I'm ready for them to start tackling projects over there.
I really like the layout of the house. It makes so much more sense their their current house! I'd like to see them spend some money! Redo the kitchen and actually spend a little bit on it. Not everything needs to be a $5 project!
I love it too. It's soooo, outdated, but a lot of that is cosmetic - wallpaper, trim color, etc. I'm not crazy about traditional layouts and I think the kitchen looks small, but I love the sun room. I noticed lots of quality touches such as solid wood doors and good sized trim. I also don't think they need to be locked into 100% traditional choices. The buzzword I keep hearing is "transitional," where you have quite a few traditional choices with some modern/whimsical things thrown in.I would actually like to see some legit Pinterest pins from them, other than self promotion. You know they'e had a secret board for the new house since October!
Meh, I'm not excited by it. My Aunt & Uncle had pretty much that exact house on a very similar lot (also in Richmond). I wonder if its the same area/hood. To me it's a pretty generic house. I've even more underwhelmed when I saw that its a mullet house too. Richmond has some awesome houses in the Fan & West End, this one isn't inspiring.
I have been doing some short term projects in my house, like investing a few hundred in a bathroom to make it tolerable until I'm ready to do a major overhaul a few years from now.I could see them painting the kitchen cabinets short term until they are ready for a major reno, which could easily cost $40K. Can't wait for the freak out if they decide to paint them!

I'm hoping that this is why they've been doing cheap lately, no point in spending more than they need to on a house they're leaving when they could save it for their new home.
And I'm betting that their first project is making the LR off the kitchen look just like the (cozy, pretty) den from their last house. Sherry was just giddy about that room in the video.
I'm excited to see what they do but it's a house built in the 80s. I'm concerned that it actually doesn't have good bones. Construction in the 80s is not known to be good quality. But yay for new content! Their current house is just a mess.
