Ok, this might seem weird, but I had an idea to do a set of quirky photos of us in this house to 'remember' it and living in it.
I don't have the idea completely flushed out in my head, but I was thinking family photos set around (inside and outside) the house. I'm not big on staged/posed photos, but its not like we can do a photojournalist style of me cooking dinner.
So my original idea was to stage photos that are a little off. Like all of us in bed with masks on. Or at the dinner table really dressed up. Or out front of the house, but with some funny scene photobombing the background. Or we wait until the house is empty?
I guess I'm thinking more weird magazine editorial? I just think these photos could be a really cool/funny memento of living in our house.
Our nanny is also a photographer and does nice, interesting work so she's down with this odd idea.
I think that sounds like fun, and like a great final memory of the house...remembering the fun and enjoying the result of all of the hard work that went into the house.
I have seen holiday card photos that were that style, and thought it would be fun to do...I just never thought of a good enough reason to actually go through with it.
Cute idea- I think it would be fun to combine both the formalwear AND the masks if you had an old fashioned arrangement set up outside (you sitting down holding the baby, husband behind you and child to your side)
One that immediately popped into my head would be sitting around the dinner table dressed up all prim and proper with your older DD like standing on the table acting all crazycakes. Maybe in costume. Just silly stuff like that where there's one really off element.
I love that idea! There's a photographer around here that does that sort of thing a lot. (If you want to PM me, I can send you his name. I would post some pictures but they are all watermarked and you never know who is watching!)
Friends did something similar when they moved into their house. It was old and weird and the pictures are awesome. They want to recreate some of those shots when the house is finished with renovations.
I'm all in favour of fun, memorable photos especially of something that you literally poured your blood , sweat , and tears into.
