Bowling alley? I am in the wedding too. It has a full upscale restaurant too and it will be ht outside. Thoughts and ideas please? Here is a link to the place.
Now that I'm reading this again...unless the bride has something in mind for you to wear, jeans and a cute tank should work. there's a pinstripes in MN that I know some peeps have used for their Rd.

Are you planning on bowling? If so, make sure if you wear a dress it's long enough so you don't flash anyone haha, and I probably wouldn't wear strapless either. Ditto pp on bringing socks. Maybe some nice pants/jeans, etc and a dressy top of some sort?

Perhaps something to go with these:
I'd probably do a dark jean, nice top, or a dress loose enough to bowl in that keeps you covered, but probably not a maxi dress since you won't want to get tangled in the skirt while trying to bowl. Bending over to throw a bowling ball in a maxi dress would probably not work too well. Make sure to bring socks if you are bowling. I saw this skirt at ON yesterday which would be easy to move in and still be comfortable to bowl with a cute top and necklace:
I worked for a firm in one of those suburbs and they tend to be more laid back than the actual Loop. That's why I'd have to agree with Bimbi on the jeans and cute tank.

I really hope that we are not bowling... I have NO clue how to dress for a place like this...... and when I asked the bride she suggested that I wear a dress?

The skirt I posted is insanely comfortable and long enough to cover you if you have to bowl. I'd do a tank and cute necklace with that and bring a cardigan if it's cool in the place which it probably will be since people bowl there.
Sounds like places I've been to here and in LA. I'd wear a jersey knit cocktail style dress. Especially if that's what the bride suggested. The ones I've been too are more like clubs/nice bars.
Yeah, I like the stuff FCG linked (of course I do!). I think its weird that the bride suggested a dress, but I think a casual summer dress would be appropriate for this kinda place!!

Thanks! I'm with Bimbi, especially since I never saw anyone I worked with from one of these burbs in a dress at any event or in any of the offices when I visited. I'm thinking she wants dresses more for the rehearsal than the dinner portion, unless they are only using the venue for food. The pictures on the site have everyone in casual outfits.
We bowled at my sister's reception. I am not making this up. It is a private club and they have a bowling alley in the lower level. After dinner, we all went to the bowling alley. She is the eccentric middle child. It was actually really fun, although I was skeptical while she was planning
