H says the trailer looks great. I haven't read the book nor will I.
I'm curious; why not? Because of OSC's homophobic rhetoric? Because of the genre?
I've really felt that some of the Ender's saga books have been terribly marketed. Everyone I know hates Speaker for the Dead (the immediate sequel), and I think it's because it's barely a Sci-Fi book at all. It's more philosophy and anthropology, like the final chapters of Ender's Game (which were actually added to Ender's Game as a prequel to Speaker), and I loved it. Based on the covers, I always thought the books would be a big shoot-em-up space opera full of laser cannons and spaceships, so I put off reading them for decades. I'm a SciFi nerd, who used to read the extended universe Star Wars novels, and these books looked too hardcore SF for me! I was completely taken aback by their actual content!
Partly for that reason, I'm worried about the film. It's easy to make it into a flashy special effects display, so I'm skeptical about how much of the subtlety they'll be able to preserve. The books are so much about human nature and how we address outsiders (*cough, cough* Irony there, Mr. Card!) that I would really hate for the movie to be too SciFi action and further turn people away from the books.
That said... Harrison Ford and Ben Kingsley are two of my favorite actors, so I would probably go see a movie they were both in, regardless of what it was! If they could just throw Ed Harris in there, I would be overwhelmed!

I'm confused. There were major adult characters in Ender's Game? All I remember was there being a controlled society, kids being trained to commit genocide and the psychological impact of that training. Oh, and the relationship between Ender and his sister.

I would guess one of them is Graff (one of the heads at Battle School) and one is Mazer Rackham (famous hero of the earlier war)?
ETA - Guess so. I checked IMDB, and Kingsley is listed as playing Rackham, Ford is listed as Graff.
