Here's our new kitchen window. Everything is new except the window casing. I'm not sure what to do for window covering. Curtain, shade, blind, ....? Obviously the herbs need light so it can't completely cover. Just offer some privacy from neighbors across the way.
Do you have any photos that show the entire space?
My first thought was something like bamboo blinds/roman shades, but then I remembered that you have a lot of wood in your galley kitchen, so fabric might be a better choice.
How much privacy do you want? I like the Enje roller blind from Ikea since it filters a little without being too heavy, but they don't produce much privacy. Maybe you could do a solid roller blind or fancy one up with fabric, but I agree with TBM that you should probably stick to fabric since your cabs are all wood.
I love fabric roman shades in a fun pattern for kitchen windows. Everything in a kitchen is hard surfaces so the texture and warmth of a little fabric makes a big difference.
