I don't like it. Not enough prep space and the flow is completely interrupted by that island. I mean, imagine: you get some veggies out of the fridge, move over to the sink and wash them. You want to cook them, but to get from the sink to the range, you have to go around the end of the island and past a door/kitchen entry. It just seems ... impractical.

I just looked at it in detail. I don't really consider taking a room down to the studs that 'budget' since you'll have to rip out all that new drywall when you really redo it.
Since they had it down to studs, I would have swapped the door and window on the back wall. Seriously not that much more work. Them she could have had a very functional L-shaped kitchen without moving the sink. Then still added the bar.
I'm not a fan for all the reasons listed but wondered if I was overlooking a positive. On a brighter note, I do like the colors and finishes she chose.
i was hoping that the finishes would impress me or something, but i'm hard pressed to find anything i like. well, i like those open shelves with the gold caps, but that's about it.
It's acceptable for the work triangle to be slightly interrupted by the corner of the kitchen island or something, but that's just a giant kitchen roadblock. It just doesn't look easy to work in.

Ah, as I looked around, it looks like it would be hard to move the door since the exterior is rock, not wood. So I'm guessing that is why she didn't consider moving the door to make the inside more functional. Plus, the door looks pretty centered in the house, so maybe it would have looked funny outside.
That being said, I actually like her inspiration picture, but I can't seem to love the execution and the layout seems tough if you want to socialize or cook. Inspiration Kitchen...
Oh and this other angle from her dining room shows she put the microwave in a blue box - Ack NMS at all!
I do love her bathroom remodel in her cottage - she did well there:

I've picked out the exact same shelves for my kitchen, so I was excited to see how good they look. I like the color blue she used because it's a little less boring.
