Hi! When it's cool, I usually run an hour straight. Now, that it's really, really hot I can't seem to run that without stopping. Usually, I run 35 minutes, then take a water break and then I get back on for another 25 minutes or so. Which is better? Is running just 35 minutes good enough? Appreciate the feedback.
Sorry, I was going to put them, but forgot to add. Well, I think I want to lose about 15 more pounds, then maintain. I've been losing weight for almost three years. I was eating about 1500-1800 calories, but got sick and could not run for about 3 weeks. I moved my calories down to 1300 or so when I was sick, lost weight and decided to keep my calories at that number, especially since it is so hard to run in this heat. I actually feel better eating less and not runing as hard. Also, how many days do you think I should run?
I'd suggest you stick with 30m runs and do intervals during that 30m while it's hot out. Intervals are more effective for fat loss than straight cardio in a shorter period of time.
I would either do a run/walk combo for an hour, or lower your calorie intake that you're using while running. Say you burn 600 calories on a 60 minute run. When you drop it to a 30 minute run, you'll burn about 300 calories so you'd need to make up for those calories in some way. Either eat less or exercise more to lose weight at the same rate.
Thanks for all of your suggestions. I will probably stay at 1200. I don't think I can/should lower it any longer. Basically, I just wanted all of you to say," yes, 30 minutes is enough", just to make me feel better...lol. It's already 100 here. It gets to 100 earlier and earlier each year!!! Have a nice day!!
