Hello ladies! Just wanted to introduce myself. My Name is Danielle. I'm married with two kids (who will be 4 and 1 next month). DH just got a job offer up in the Boston area so we are moving to the Boston area, probably in the beginning of June. DH grew up in a Boston suburb and we lived in the area when we were first married. We then moved back to my home state (NJ), where we have been living for the past (almost) 7 years. We have an active Nj board - and am happy to find that there is a Boston one too. I'm so excited about this move - we always missed Boston!!!
I'm also moving; from south of the city to north of the city. As a CT transplant (via a central MA college) I never know what "area" half the towns qualify as.
We can commiserate on moving together. Are you buying or renting? The market is bonkers!
Thanks for the warm reception. To respond to some of the questions:
Whereabouts will you be living? Until we find a house, we will be staying in Burlingron. DH (Brian) is from Lexington, so that is where we plan on moving. There is not a lot of home inventory there - at least not in our price range - but we will be patient and hopefully find something soon.
What kind of work do you do? I am an attorney (tax/trust and estates).
What kind of work does your DH do? He is also an attorney (we met in law school). . But his new job Is an In-house position. We're done with law firms and billable hours.
What other GBCN boards are you usually on? Mostly just the NJ local board.
What are your hobbies or things you like to do in your free time? Cooking, running, hiking, yoga (though I recently started and I'm horrible), and any sports.
What about the move most excites you? Too many things. Boston is a great city and even though Its not my home city, I love it. Being close to Brian's family, especially my niece and nephew (my boys will grow up w their cousins).
Oh yeah, the market in Lexington is insane right now according to my neighbors. One just told me about a place that sold for ~$100K over ask and was a tear down .

OMG!
Well fuck. We're going to be renting forever. heh.
Hello!! I currently live on the Bedford/Lexington line so will be close by:) I can recommend a great yoga studio in Lexington!
Welcome!
That would be great!!
Lexington power yoga is fantastic and I also love Boston Pilates plus which is arojnd the corner. I also sometimes do the running club on Thirsdays which is also local in Lexington and is run by the lululemon in Burlington:)
Welcome! I'm in Burlington and also newly into yoga. I'm bummed, we had an awesome studio in Burlington but it just closed. Good luck with the move!
And yeah, the real estate market is nuts! It seems like someone flicked a switch. I wonder if our house has increased in value... every time we have had it appraised to refi it has been dropping...

DH and I need to do some type of estate planning soon. I might have to ask you for advice eventually (not in the legal sense, more in the "what should I look for/ask" sense !
In-house is fantastic, congrats to your DH.
If you like playing sports, check out www.bssc.com. All kinds of fun leagues and it's a great way to meet people and make new friends. DH and I play in their volleyball leagues--well, I do when I'm not recovering from an ACL tear.
Thanks for the suggestions. I will definitely check out bssc. And when you're ready to ask your estate planning questions, I'm here
I'm so happy the boston board is active! I'd love to hit a GTG once we move up.
So nice to meet you! I'm in Woburn and we've been in our house 2 years now. Love Lexington, I drive right through it whenever I head to western MA to visit my parents.
Welcome! I work in Lexington, but live a few towns to the west where there is more inventory and lower prices. I have 2 boys (will be 5 and 3 this summer) and another on the way.
It's a great area with lots of really great school systems, so if you are interested in looking outside of Lexington, I'm happy to share what I know. We bought and sold last spring, so I know how hard it is to move with 2 little ones. Good luck!
