Happy Friday, everyone! Any big plans? scm1011, how was the museum party last night?
I think I mentioned this in another post but: tonight, we're driving out to Springfield to go to a fundraiser. One of my BFFs is the co-chair for the Springfield Relay for Life, and her sister (who is also one of my BFFs) is also heavily involved. My brother and his wife are coming with us, which will be fun because I haven't seen them in ages.
Tomorrow, my mom and brother are coming up here to hang out for Mother's day. I have no idea what we're going to do, because I am going to be tired. But we'll grab lunch somewhere and visit. Hopefully, they'll only stay a couple of hours.
Sunday, we're driving to NH to have lunch with my in-laws for mother's day. And Sunday night, I will collapse in a heap from sheer exhaustion, heh.
Thank you, vt! I have to say, it is becoming a little overwhelming, but I am having fun.
You just reminded me I haven't gone to the movie theater since I saw Les Miserables. I need to catch up on current attractions. I hope you like The Great Gatsby! It looks good.

Hope you have a good time on your dates, fuddyduddy!
I was really excited for The Great Gatsby, but the rating on Rotten Tomatoes is just eh. (Though it's higher today than yesterday - when I looked yesterday, it was at a 38%, I think) I may just wait for it to come out on dvd. H said he'd go with me, but I am dragging him to Before Midnight in a couple of weeks, and don't want to squander my movie goodwill before then, heh.
Sunday: My mother whined and moaned about my idea of taking her out for Mother's Day after the communion ("but Saturday isn't Mother's Day!!") so I have to drive BACK to the South Shore on Sunday to take her out to breakfast. I hate hate hate driving so I'm just annoyed that my mother won't be a little more accommodating.
Ugh, I'm sorry. My mom is only ok with Saturday because she's starting a new job on Monday, so she didn't want to drive up here. (We'd thought about having her and my inlaws over for brunch, since they're all going to be around this year, and live in opposite directions.) I haaaaaaaaaaaaaate the obligatory greeting card holidays.
I'll let you all know how Gatsby is, can't wait to see it. I'm going to try to get DH to come along, we'll see how that goes. I reread the book a few months ago in preparation.
I've gotta admit I'm kind of glad both our moms live hours away. I've sent a card and some flowers to be delivered tomorrow and will also call her. But, no visits!
Hope you have a good time on your dates, fuddyduddy!

I am SO SO SO SO SO SO EXCITED for Before Midnight!!! Like, I've been waiting years for this.
ME TOO! I was so thrilled when I heard it was not only a real thing that was happening, but also that it was getting great reviews at Sundance. I can even forget how much I dislike Ethan Hawke for this, hee!
Rest of today: low key day with the kiddos. Laundromat after DH gets home.
Saturday: house hunting. But it'll be an event with the ILs and the REA. Then.. Probably house debriefing. And guilt about coming back for Sunday.
Sunday: Um.. Maybe more house hunting? I don't want to share because ILs don't share. My first MD we tried to share and no one wished me a good day all day. (I was 1mo pp and hormonal). I had a bit of a temper at the end and asked why no one had wished me a happy Mother's Day. BIL responded "you aren't *my* mom, why should I?" (Matter of fact, just enough to be harsh but not like evil). The sentiment was nodded to by other BIL. SIL looked bored. Flash forward this year: I admit I'm still bitter. And SIL is now expecting. So, I don't want to "share" because "sharing" would make its all MILs day. Plus two days of 2h in the car ... Blah. But, other life factors, we'll probably end up there.
What do I want to do? Get pro pics of both kids taken (we have none of our almost walking 11mo old.
My mom is trying to tell me not to worry about Mother's day, she saw me last weekend and will see me again next weekend, she doesn't need a day for herself............ ok mom martyr, not falling for that one this time.
I wish today's good weather would hold out for the rest of the weekend. I want to do stuff outside!
What a gorgeous Friday! Looking forward to an early lunch with a couple of GBCNers today. No plans tonight. Tomorrow we're having dinner at my parents' for my sister's birthday. Sunday we're having dinner for Mother's Day. That's about it!
Aww fun, I definitely work on the wrong side of the city Are you going to see SJ?
In contrast to my MIL and me; my mom's ideal day is when we all go away and let her do whatever she wants for the day. LOL.
Ha! My husband and I were just talking about that last night, and he said something about how all fathers want is to be left the hell alone. And I was like, "Yeah, if we ever have a kid, you can bring me some breakfast and a card, and then take him/her out so I can have some peace and quiet. Now THAT is a present."
It reminded me of that scene in Being Bobby Brown (shutup) when Bobby invites the whole family (like nieces, nephews etc) to celebrate Mothers day, and Whitney gets pissed because they're annoying and says she's going home, because "it's not all everybody day!" (RIP, Whitney.)
Today we are heading to CT to see my DH's friend who is in recovery in the hospital. We are coming back here Saturday but not sure what time so hopefully we can do something Sat night that is fun and take our mind off things.
Sunday we are going to RI and having brunch with my mom at our fave dive bar.
vtdiamond, I'm dying to see Gatsby! I really want to re-read the book first though, I haven't read it since like 10th grade. Let us know how it is!
I second this.
I think tonight we will head to our neighborhood bar and get drunk.
I haven't thought out the weekend past that. I actually have no official plans so that will be glorious. It is the first week of the local farmer's market, htough, so that is kind of exciting.

We have L's party tonight. Weather is awesome! Tomorrow we need to clean before my parents come. Sunday I think we're just making a nice dinner at home. Considering the Make Way for Ducklings parade, though.
Happy Friday! TGIF, even though it was a short week for me. I've been dealing with a crisis at work the past few weeks. I've been babysitting a process all day and *finally* things seem to be running okay. Good way to start a weekend!
And... tomorrow is my birthday!!! Yay!
Tonight: dinner and cake with one of my BFs. We always celebrate our birthdays together. This is now going on a 14 year tradition (!).
Sat: relaxation day. Either dinner out with H or he'll cook my favorite meal. He usually has some nice birthday surprises for me!
Sun: meeting my sister for a day of shopping/dinner. She's a mom and she wanted a kid free day for her Mother's Day. I feel special she's spending it with me! I hope the mother's day/my birthday get together becomes a tradition.
I hope we get some dry weather, that would be icing on the cake for a pretty good birthday weekend.
Our plans for the weekend involve my DH Cousin getting married today and a big Mother's Day lunch tomorrow with the inlaws. Not much downtime. On the plus side paperwork is getting done (slowly but surely) on the mortgage. Praying we still close on time! I need much own kitchen!!
Wow, thanks for the love ladies! Graduation was awesome and I am glad I decided to go. We had lunch/early dinner (at Firefly in Mnachester for my locals) and it was very good. ILs came over to visit after (they did not attend the ceremony) and we sat and chatted for a while, now I am sitting around in my sweats watching stuff on the DVR. Very tiring day

Congratulations! Enjoy your time off now.
I love Firefly. Awkward and I had dinner there a while ago.

Sadly, no sarajoy. I didn't even realize she was in town until this morning. I met up with rikki to hand over the MM beauty samples box and scm1011 joined us as she works nearby too. I was so tempted to just wander around in the sun after our lovely lunch but I have work to do--boo!
You were so close to us! I was taking a working vacation day Friday because DH was in town with me to spend the weekend. It was his first time in Boston and we had a blast. I printed & brought your list of Boston recommendations @rock-n-voll ! We ate at Neptune, Menton, Union Oyster House, Salty Pig, Saracena, and went to lots of bars. Did the Freedom Trail & a Duck Tour and walked all over town- to the memorial and all over the north end, which is nice because I really had never spent time there.
It was a really fun time! I thought about posting on this board to see if anyone could meet up, but it really was a whirlwind.
