Ugh. I so did not want this to be the issue but when I went in for my EMG, the doctor listened to my symptoms and said the same thing as my sports doc. Thankfully, the nerve test was fine but the doctor was so sure CS is my issue that he's including it in the test results. Sigh.
It looks like running is not happening for awhile.
Ugh I'm so sorry. I know you've already heard it all from your doc, but seriously, you do not want to tempt fate on this one. Compartment syndrome can be a really bad deal.
I've never heard of this before, so I just googled it. Yikes, it doesn't sound fun. What kind if treatment do you need?
If my sports doc sticks to his original plan, he thinks its early enough physical therapy combined with no running may be enough to resolve it. He doesn't really want to put me through the test for it unless it's absolutely necessary. If that doesn't work and I want to keep running, it would mean surgery.
runaways, I know. I didn't tell anybody that possible diagnosis because unfortunately, I knew enough about it to know of all things, I did not want that.

My H's is the exercise-induced kind, and he's apparently allowed to run on occasion. He was diagnosed a couple months ago, after being told for years that it was just really bad shin splints. He acted like it was no big deal though, so I didn't even really know what it was until you mentioned it today and I looked it up...and was like whaaaa?! So I grilled him tonight and apparently he was told he could get a fasciotomy in both legs if he wanted to keep running. But he doesn't like running anyway, so he's going to hold off on it. All this to say, I'm so sorry aswartzw and I hope rest and PT will resolve yours.
Oh man, I didn't know what it was so I just googled. I'm so sorry aswartzw, and I'm really glad you're getting it checked out now as opposed to waiting. Sending my best wishes that this early intervention will make treatment much more manageable.

I hope that PT and rest works! The test is brutal and the surgery does leave you with some fairly large scars depending which compartments and how many are affected. Haven't seen too many cases of this after surgery however the ones I have seen progress pretty quickly.
