I have vitamin D deficiency, and yes, I was having sternum pain for awhile. I went to the doc a few weeks ago and they upped my vitamin D, and I haven't felt the pain since.

Do you carry a large bag/purse that has gotten heavier recently?
I pulled a muscle in my sternum area once, and it was because I had a messenger bag full of booshit that I insisted on hauling around everywhere. The doctor's Rx was, and I quote, "Stop carrying so much crap. Why do you need all that crap?"
So I've been experiencing sternum pain off and on for at least a month. I have bad allergies/asthma/chronic cough so I figured it was related to those issue. I paged Dr. Google and learned this could be related to vitamin d deficiency. Has anyone else had sternum pain from this? If so, did it go away after taking vitamin d?
When is the pain at it's worst? What makes it better? Does the pain come on at night/daytime?
Oops hit submit too soon. The pain comes and goes. It's not an every day thing. I'd say it's the worst when I bend down. I haven't noticed a pattern of the pain coming on during the day or night.
It's not excruciating pain. It mainly bothers me to not know what's causing it. Usually my mind goes to the worst possible scenario, "omg I have a tumor, I'm dying."
If I had to guess, you probably just injured a muscle that is attached to the sternum. It probably occurred when you were picking up a bag off the floor. Lots of people have very weak pecs due to our posture. This causes the muscles to constantly be in a tightened position making them more vulnerable to injury. If the pain is a dull, aching pain - it's more likely due to muscle strain than anything else. If it gets horrible, I'd make a visit to your local PT and see if they can't remedy the situation for you.
