to improve my half pace (and misery level, I hope) for the fall.
I'm nervous! Why am I nervous about this?? I think that deep down I am a little scared that I will be the slowest one there, since I am choosing to run with the experienced half group vs the first timers (their long runs are only 2.5 miles right away, I don't want to start back there).
Good luck! I'm in a group, and it's definitely all levels. I'm toward the back of the group, and one of my friends is generally last. All are welcomed, and she still comes (she's the one who got me to start going actually).

You'll do great and it'll be fun to train with a group. I always have fun meeting other runners, even though I might not be super speedy either. Running with a group keeps me accountable, makes me train harder, and is just more enjoyable, esp on long runs.
You guys, nobody I know is super fast on all three sports. Everyone has their strengths. That's what I live about it. I'm a super slow runner but can beat almost anyone at the swim, so we all look to each other for help and inspiration, do t worry about being slow!!

This is actually what I am hoping to get out of being with a group. It's way too easy for me to take it easy on myself when it's just me, I need someone else there to really motivate me to leave my comfort zone (which is why spin is always my best workout).
I know this is going to be weird and awkward for me at first, but I am going to do it anyway in hopes that it will push me as hard as I need to be pushed.
I was so nervous when I joined my tri team. I didn't know a soul! Now several people I consider to be good friends! It's good to go out of our comfort zones sometimes!!
Where I live there are a lot of groups. I think it's kinda like dating, some groups are full of nice people but not what you are looking for. Don't be afraid to try more than one group to find the people who 1) you click with and 2) are the appropriate fitness level. Some groups are slower, some are faster. No biggie but don't settle.
My running and tri peeps are my bestfriends. When you find the right group you totally know it.
What's the fun of training with people who are all at the same level/have the same strengths? I love how every member of my running group has a unique way of inspiring me to be better:). Good luck!!
