At what distance do you start to retain water in your muscles? I usually notice it for anything over 12 miles but my weight has been fluctuating a lot and I wonder if it's because of water retention. I'm still running between 20-30 miles a week with a long run on Saturdays that is between 8-10 miles.
I noticed the water retention a lot more when I was training for my marathon but was curious about what others thought or noticed:)
I don't necessarily think it is related to distance. I think it is more related to how hard your workout is. So a long run could cause it, but a tempo run, track workout, or lifting weights might also.
