We have a carpet remnant for an area rug in our bedroom. We got it on super sale for $6.99! Our isn't bound but it still works great. I had a carpet remnant that was bound in my apartment in college. It was pretty much room size and it wore great but I would pick a thicker carpet. The one for my bedroom both times has thicker and they feel nice under foot. Let me know if you want a picture.

Totally doable. My mother and I both did this from remnants for our respective living rooms. The patterns are subtle diamond shapes and the bounded edges just make it look like a finished area rug. We do have normal carpet pads under them--neither of us wanted wall to wall carpet, but our rooms both needed some kind of rug--I suspect that most of the rugs I have in my home are like this (we kept the rugs the previous homeowners had.)
Has anyone done this? How did it turn out? I've bound a plain carpet before but not sure about doing it with a patterned carpet. Thanks!
I've done it before! Here's a pic:
I did a tutorial on my blog that may be helpful, but I don't know if it's PC to link to your own blog here? Either way, it was super easy. Just takes some planning to keep the pattern centered and even.
Ooo...link your blog. That's PC with me (and most everyone here - a lot of people have them in their siggys).
