Here is the view from the door and the second floor plan.
This whole space really depresses me.
The curtains are going and I'd like to take the rolling vinyl blind down too. We can't paint. I'd love to lose that over the toilet storage thing and the other low shelf because DD will just get into whatever we put there. Maybe do faux wood blinds on the window and two long open shelves on that wall with baskets? The vanity is horrid. The cheapest old thing. I'm half tempted to ask them if we can replace it, but I'll hold off.
So, I'm thinking of getting a colorful rug and shower curtain, but I feel like it will be makeup on a pig you know...

Ugh! That bathroom would give me the sads too. The colonial blue is bad, but a colorful shower curtain could really counteract it. Definitely ditch the thing over the toilet! I love the idea of long open shelves, plus whatever containers you put on them will add interest. Rental bathrooms can be real downers, but I think this one is still redeemable.

munkii - I ended up finding a shower curtain I LOVE at urbanoutfitters. The color isn't as fun as I had envisioned, but I think the whole bathroom will end up really nice. I"m going to put two long shelves above the toilet with baskets we already have. Get the shower curtain, new blinds and a jute rug.
Jealous! I've been eyeing the matching tea towels for months (MONTHS). When I saw the shower curtain last night, I was like, "I'm buying this!" In fact, before logging on just now, I convinced myself to make a moodboard for it!

It's normally so much more than I'd spend for a shower curtain but I love it! I was looking to see if there were other matching things. How did u find the tea towels?

I was going to suggest Target's ombre stuff - I wouldn't probably put it in my house, but for a rental to go with blue, it might be a fun, cheap option for awhile (http://www.target.com/p/threshold-ombre-shower-curtain-blue/-/A-14321285#prodSlot=medium_1_6&term=ombre).
However, I like that curtain you found much better. Shelves and baskets would look so good - I love the shower curtain.
Plus if you can, I love having a small chair/stool/bench in the bathroom for the kids bath time. Could you put something like this in your bathroom under the window? It could also double as a step-stool for your daughter at the sink.
I like this style, but not the dark color
Not sure what to do about that vanity, but if you add the shelves, I doubt you'll notice that as much (or at least your guests won't).

PS - Oh and this article has a great tip that we used in our last house with a clawfoot tub...storage that doesn't have to hang from the shower head and isn't in the way when bathing the kiddos.
um, i LOVE that shower curtain. love, love. if i had a need for a shower curtain (as opposed to a hideous gold trimmed shower door) it would be mine.
also, why have i never looked at urban outfitters for house stuff before? it's everything i've ever wanted. literally. things i found on pinterest, but couldn't find a source... urban outfitters. or at least something really similar.

Thanks ladies! I think I'm going to order today. Thanks for the link munkii and for reminding me of urban outfitters. I always forget about their stuff. downtoearth - We must be thinking the same, I have a bench my grandfather made that I just thought of putting in the bathroom right before I read your reply.
