My mom has been on the hunt for the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe! She has tried about 6 but doesn't think she's found "the one" yet- do you know of any great recipes or have any special tips?
Or anybody else have a good recipe she should try?

Well, I'm a loohoohooser that is just seeing this thread.
I can give you some tips and some direction with making an amazing cookie!
1. Make sure your butter (yes REAL butter) is soft. I recommend pulling it out a few hours before making your cookies. 2. When creaming your butter and sugar, do it only until it starts to become a bit "fluffy". If you overcream this, your cookies will spread a lot. 3. Always add a bit more salt than it calls for. Do NOT do this if you are using salted butter. 4. Blend your dry ingredients before adding them to the batter. Add the chocolate just before the dry ingredients have fully incorporated. If you over mix your dough after adding the flour, the cookies can get tough. 5. Chocolate counts. The better your chocolate is, the better cookie you'll have. 6. Pull your cookies out of the oven when they look almost done. Carryover baking will set them and this will ensure you have chewy cookies.
I recently read that adding a pinch of nutmeg to cookies brings out the butter flavor in them. I have not tried this but it does sound interesting.
I made these!! They were kind of involved (for me) but SO DELICIOUS! And just before I put them in the oven I thought they were going to be a disaster and they came out sooo amazing.
I've been loving the recipe out of the baking illustrated cookbook. I use toffee chips, chocolate chips, and nuts. I also have a book called "got milk?" That has awesome CCCs.

This. I almost always have cookie dough slugs in my freezer to pull out and bake whenever I want cookies.
Yeah, I make the dough, use a scoop and line the little dudes up on a baking sheet, and refrigerate until they've hardened up enough to throw in a bag, and into the freezer they go.
