... you got an email back from a company with whom you applied for a job where they tell you we are processing your application blah blah ... you know, general acknowledgment that they got your shit, nothing that you would normally reply to ... EXCEPT that they call you MR. in the email.
Do you write back a quick thank you and sign it MS.?
OR
Do you say nothing and surprise them with your vagina should they decide to call for an interview?
I'd ignore it. Those emails are often form letters processed by HR, so it could be just an error. They may not actually think you're a man. If, when you show up, it turns out to be a big deal that they thought you were a man, then it's probably not a company you want to work with anyway.
I'm trying to imagine an HR person who would think your first name was a man's. Anyway, I agree with pp's, let it lie unless they call you. Then, assume they only called you because you're a man and speak in a forced deep voice the whole time.

You'd be surprised how often folks think I'm a man based on my (very American and not asexual) first name here in Germany.
Anyway, all of you had much better advice than my husband. His started and ended with analogies from everyone's favorite 1980s movies, Just One of the Guys.

Surprise vag! But if the dummies think Dorothy is a man's name, I think you are too smart to work there anyway. Unless it's Nike, cause you do want to work for them.
DZ, you make me laugh! I wouldn't say anything. If they contact you further, they'll hear by your voice on the phone (unless you have a man voice) or you can sign a future email with Mrs. or include your middle name if it's obviously feminine.
