I'm usually a "less is more" when it comes to the TV stand, mostly because my TV stand has a DVR, a wireless modem, the wireless modem for the DVR in our bedroom, a Wii, a PS3, a Dreamcast AND an external wireless hard drive system.
Of course the picture is dark, so I can't see it very well, but I think it looks fine. I like the little potted plant! I need some like that, I kill everything.

It is book heavy on the right side, for sure. I think I'd probably move the books in the outside right to the inside right and put something big (like the conch on the left) on the outside right. That way the big white book and the wii/cable box (silver thingy) kind of match. KWIM?
I think it looks amazing! I want to make a dresser into a media stand now. How perfect to store all the cords and controllers and other related stuff in those drawers...
Daytime picture. Haven't moved anything yet. Need to get behind it and fool around with cords. The wii isn't even hooked up yet, and I'm thinking it needs to be flat with something on top of it or below it. It looks crowded the way it's standing up. I guess my big shell will go back to the curio cabinet. Maybe I'll use some Wedgwood instead, I have a ton of the classic blue.
I don't have any issues with the wii as-is. I had to go back and look at the photo again to figure out where the wii even was. I'd still just move the right books to the left side, then maybe put a nice piece of wedgwood next to them?

It looks great! You've actually inspired me. We will likely be using a MCM dresser for our tv stand in the rental. I might just try to take one drawer out use that as the equipment area.

I may have lusted after that bird. I have a bird problem! It's bad. I had to pack AWAY birds recently. Bad emo.
And I feel you on the wire issue too, FormerlyRR. My H is the worst and since our TV is wall mounted, you can see all the wires going up. I'm going to make him fix the mount (because it's totally crooked) and route the wires through the wall one of these days.

That is so cool--you did a fantastic job! I picture a stand-alone wide, low-profile bowl or dish centered in the right-side compartment, although that would probably make the left side too heavy.
So when are you going to come see it in person? Chuckles is coming next week, but otherwise my summer is WIDE open for visitors. I may not be two blocks from the beach anymore, but I'm still at the coast!
Well, if the Brady's would ever give me time off...
