A has been running a fever for about 30 hours now. We've been monitoring it every 2-4 hours and it was around 103 from 8PM-1AM last night, but dropped after I gave him a dose of baby Tylanol and was still down this AM. It's currently running at about 100. He has no symptoms of anything-- no rash, congestions, ear tugging, vomiting or diarrhea-- is eating well, sleeping well (more frequent naps, but he stays asleep pretty well), and playing as normal.
I haven't rushed to the doctor because he isn't acting sick (know what I mean?) but this thing seems to be lingering. Should I take him in today or continue to monitor? Am I being way to casual about this thing? This is his first fever and since it isn't behaving in a clear cut way, I'm not sure what to do...
Updated: Took A to the local GP because we needed to drop off the registration papers, and mentioned that he was running a fever, ect. Receptionist took my info and put in a request to have the doctor give me a call and discuss the situation over the phone and see if it would be better to see him today or tomorrow. Doc said he had room today, so half an hour later we are in to see the doc and discover a slightly infected right ear. Got some drugs and he's on the mend! Go NHS!

No judgement here.
Could be an ear infection though. M had one last month and had the high fevers for 2 days and wasnt showing any sign of infection. No ear tugging or anything. We brought her in and turns out she had one.
Sorry to but in, but I have a question. If your LO had a fever with no symptoms, what made you check their temp? Did they just feel warm to you? I'm always afraid I'll miss something important.
I am more on the paranoid side so I would have called this morning. I think the 103 fever would have me more concerned but if it's already to 100 then I don't even think they would consider that a fever anymore. Sounds like you are watching it and if it continues on then I would definitely call.

I only ever check her temp when I feel she is being unusually fussy.
I feel like I'm very bad at judging whether she "feels warm" or not. I'll be like OH She feels warm! then check and nope.. normal. Then I'll be like she feels warm... but then she's a baby she's always warm feeling.... then check and oops its 101. ?!!
Because of my poor forehead warmness judgement, I feel she has had a thermometer up her bum probably a lot more than the average baby.
Also my doc usually says if no other symptoms besides the fever (and crankiness which is just because of the fever usually) to come in if it persists for three days.
Last week she had had a fever less than a day though but also had a yucky cough and was sleep terribly, so they said to bring her in and she had an ear infection!
It's hard to know because she's always tugging at her ear from teething too. So many times I've been convinced she must have ear infection and she never did. This time I thought she had a chest infection maybe and it was an ear infection!

I went in for a MOTN feed and A was warm. Not cuddly sleepy warm, but really warm. It was enough to set off my mommy-bells, so that's why I started monitoring the temp.
