I've been on a book series kick lately. Some of my recent favorites are:
Fever series by Karen Marie Moning Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout Premonition series by Amy A. Bartol Mortal Instruments series by Clare Cassandra
Some not-recent favorites are: Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins Divergent series by Veronica Roth Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan
Have any favorites of your own? Anyone else share a love for book series?
If you liked The Mortal Instruments, check out The Infernal Devices. I actually liked those more.
My other series are all on your did not like list I may check out the Lux series.
I didn't list any series I didn't like. I just had recent favorites and not recent favorites (but still favorites!). I will have to check out the Infernal Devices since you said you liked them more than Mortal Instruments. Thanks! I'm excited about the Mortal Instruments movie coming out this fall.
I just reread Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo, which is the first in a trilogy (I think it's three books?). The second comes out in June -- can't wait.
Other series: Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next books Julie Hyzy's White House Chef mysteries and Manor House mysteries Louise Penny's Three Pines mysteries Maisie Dobbs books by Jacqueline Winspear (yep, mysteries)
Not favorites, but still fun are the Enchanted Inc. books by Shanna Swendson and the Jessica Darling series by Megan McCafferty.

I know it's taboo here but Outlander is one hp of course Phillips Gregory's Tudors series. (Historically shakey at points but very interesting) I have some romance novel series I love too.

Is Outlander really taboo here? I like it and didn't get that sense (but I may have missed some threads).
If you count Lord of the Rings as a series (instead of Tolkien's intended 1 book), that's my favorite. I also love Harry Potter.
I've read almost all of the Wheel of Time books at least twice (not #7-9 when they got really slow). I've also enjoyed the Game of Thrones books, but I'm scared of them because I think it's likely he won't ever finish the series. I'm working through The Dark Tower now (just got book #6); the first couple were slow but I persisted because of all the good reviews, and 4 and 5 were great.
From way back in the day, I like the Dragonriders of Pern books by Anne McCaffery but the ones she wrote with her son Todd were terrible. From the same era, also Marion Zimmer Bradley's Avalon books.
Has anybody read beyond the first 3 Dune books? The first one was fascinating but I thought the next two went downhill a little so never tried to go further.

I read mainly mystery series.
Rita Mae Brown & Sneaky Pie Brown's Mrs. Murphy books Susan Wittig Albert's China Bayles series Boris Akunin's Erast Fandorin series Charles Finch's Charles Lenox series Victoria Thompson's Gaslight series
Non-mystery series I enjoy are:
Lauren Willig's Pink Carnation Alexandre Dumas D'Artagnan Romances (The Three Musketeers series) Kristin Billerbeck's Spa Girls series
These are not so much series as books written by the same author: Ann Rinaldi's Young Adult Great Episodes books (The Secret of Sarah Revere, Finishing Becca, The Staircase, etc.) Mary Stewart's thrillers (The Moonspinners, Nine Coaches Waiting, Thunder on the Right, etc.) Marian Babson's mysteries (The Diamond Cat, A Trail of Ashes, Bejeweled Murder, etc.)
Game of Thrones, of course! aurora - I'm still debating whether to start the Wheel of Time series. I have the first one downloaded already. You'll have to rank it against Dark Tower and Game of Thrones so I can decide!

That's really hard since I haven't finished Dark Tower yet and Game of Thrones is at who-knows-what percent completion. If I had to pick right now I'd probably rank WOT first of the three, but I will try to remember to report back when I've finished DT.
(Dark Tower minor spoilers in the next paragraph)
As a caveat, I am the type of reader who likes books best when I find characters whom I really like as people. I think that's part of why I had a hard time getting into the first few books of DT - Roland was just some brooding man with no history, Eddie was a druggie, Susannah had all sorts of messed up issues, Jake was just a kid. It wasn't until I got to Wizard and Glass that I got enough backstory and started to see all of them as people I could be friends with, so that impacted my enjoyment. With WOT (and GOT), I really connected with characters starting in the first book. Both of those series have issues with too many "main" characters so that your head starts to swim, but I feel like they are better connected to each other in WOT (so far) so it's easier to follow.
I can't remember if we discussed this when you first posted about WOT, but the first book is actually fairly standalone, so I don't think there would be terrible harm in you reading it and then deciding if you want to continue. You'll at least have resolution of the main crisis of that book if you stop.

You have the benefit of reading DT as a complete series! When I started there were only two books. I re-read the whole series each time a new book came out (plus other times, too). I must have read The Gunslinger 15 times!
I started WOT immediately after finishing GOT. I got about 20 pages in and decided I just didn't have the commitment level right then. I've been in a major book rut, so maybe it's time to give in another try. You do realize that by ranking it higher than the other two, you've set expectations pretty high!
MrsAxilla - I still rank WOT well below Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, though. If I were assigning points, both LOTR and HP would get 11 (out of 10), WOT might get an 8, DT and GOT more like 6-7 (but may change after I finish them).
I do think I should probably re-read DT at some point (after I finish it) because I think I will appreciate the early books more having read the later ones.

Hmmm....I didn't really like LOTR. Of course, I only read it because of a boyfriend, so maybe my memory is tainted.
I guarentee you that you will finish DT 7 and immediately want to re-read. Ka is a wheel and all.
ETA: Ahh - saw your TIC comment later on, ne'er mind.
I have too many series I like to list or even remember but several have been mentioned already - HP, GoT, and on and on. I'm surprised no one's mentioned BDB - swoon.

secretlyevil Outlander is awesome! I can't wait for the series to get moving with casting/filming and of course being able to watch it! Though it might be easier to talk DH into getting Stars in a couple years once DD is in school and we're not paying for preschool. Not to mention mommy having more time to enjoy watching it. :-) bdB is awesome its one of my romance series I love.

H doesn't know this but the minute there is a premier date announced, I will be counting down and will be ordering Starz the week before. The other series I like on HBO series I can wait until netflix or buy the seasons when they're out of DVD, not this one!
I like the JD Robb in Death series a lot. Karin Slaughter's series is great, though I'm only about halfway through. I remember liking the one by Lisa Gardner, but it's been years. Patricia Cornwell's Scarpetta series was my favorite in high school.
I love NR's trilogies/quartets. My favorite is the Chesapeake Bay series.
I have read some of these: HP, Scarpetta, Hunger Games and really enjoyed them.
I also like two by David Baldacci - The Camel Club and the books with Maxwell & King. My mom, grandma and I have all read Jan Karon's Mitford series - light, easy, feel good story. Another that I read because of my mom are the Regan Reilly books by Carol Higgins Clark.
What's this about Outlander getting a series on Starz? (Btw, I also never got the vibe that Outlander is taboo here. It is awesome, top 3 series for me for sure)

It's in development to be a series on Stars which means they'll keep all the hot and sexy bits! it was announced last year but its still got a ways to go, I'm hoping it iwas/will be part of this years pilot season but haven't heard anything about any kind of time one for script/casting/filming.
I kind of said that in jest, but there was a good bit of so over Outlander talk when we all initially came over here from TN.
I enjoyed The Looking Glass Wars trilogy, as well as the Tillerman Cycle series by Cynthia Voigt. Both are aimed at the YA population, but I enjoyed them as an adult.

I'm actually still working my way through several different series at the moment that I'm really enjoying. These include Outlander, The Dark Tower, and Game of Thrones. I've found that I can't read books in a longer series back-to-back or I lose interest.
Only one book has been released so far in the following series, but both have totally sucked me in: Maggie Steivfater's Raven Cycle and Libba Bray's Diviners series.
Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich are the first to come to my mind! Although after a while, her writing style started to bug me and the story lines got repetitive.
