Yahhh....I never even started my seedlings. Every year I say "I'm going to do this..this..and this". Doesn't happen. I'm jealous of your pretty garden!

I don't have any pics yet, but I ripped a 12" thick blanket of vinca, and an assload of russian sage, out of both front beds, we hacked the 4 fountain grasses down, I moved 2 small shrubs, pulled out 18 million rose of sharons, gave the spirea and red twig dogwood such massive haircuts they are a third of the size and are suddenly blooming like wild, and pruned a big bush thing (idk it's name) to the ground, hacked it out of the earth, and replanted it. I'm hoping I didn't kill it, but I had to cut most of the big roots to get it out. But it had to come out, it was crowding the magnolia. I also completely weeded all three backyard beds and almost have the veggie garden redone (but nothing planted yet). Also, I bought four planters to double stack on either side of the front door, and spray-painted the four that sit on the porch posts to match them. And bought seeds for all of them. I am going to plant them tomorrow, and I also have seeds for the 4 hanging planters, I just need to get new coco liners for them, fucking boiyds.

I'm so jealous! I planted some herbs & marigolds today in two pots, and bought some garden decor (lighting & various size orbs). I've got my mum coming Monday to baby watch while I go weed & mulch. Pictures then!
I still want to buy some other taller decor items (like dragonflies out of wire & beads) and patio string lights but think I'll have to convince MrJJ of the string lights.

No pics right now, but I harvested 4 bell peppers the other day. I need to pick and freeze a TON of basil. All of my herbs are huge right now. I have some teeny tiny crookneck squash, zucchini, and watermelon. The tomato plants all have tons of flowers. Oh, so does the tomatillo. The eggplants look good, too!

You must live somewhere warm to be getting harvest already!
Yesterday I planted two hydrangeas, tickseed flowers, vincas, mint, lavender, and chives. I'm really hoping the mojito mint takes off soon. I'm dying to make some mojitos this summer!
I finished one raised bed yesterday and need to buy more garden soil for the second one. I got some marigolds to plant around both beds, and I'm hoping to be done tomorrow afternoon. I still need to set up the sprinkler and the timer tonight before it gets dark.

Do you not like Russian safe or did it just get to be too much? I am thinking about ordering some for my yard. Will I regret it?

It is like a weed in my soil (very clay). It's very pretty, smells great, and attracts butterflies and bees, but after the first rainfall, it falls over, and then it's just laying on everything the rest of the year. Also, it SPREADS. It is too high-maintenance for me. I do have a bit in the butterfly garden still.

Everything I have is in pots and then we have this patio garden thing that we were hoping to do some veggies in. I tried starting pepper and lettuce seeds, but they never sprouted so I started them again yesterday. I have green bean seedlings that are doing well. The garlic is doing well. I have four pots with different flowers, morning glory, some little blue flower, dianthus, and giranium. Flowers seems to be doing well. It's not much, but my balcony looks pretty anyway.
Oooh I'm so jealous! My yard is all dirt right now. I'm trying hard to get sod and a garden started this year. Even if I only get tomatoes and herbs going this summer, I'll be happy.
That's about all my yard is. I have huge dreams for it but not sure how much I'll get done. We also have 4 rentals we just acquired which need some attention so our place has been coming last. I hope to do some though! We seeded for grass and its pissing me off that its going so slow. .

This is kind of a timely thread since I just got inside from admiring the fact that some bulbs we planted are actually growing. I planted flowers the first year we were in our house and they got FRIED. We've been here 3 1/2 years now and this is out first attempt at growing flowers since.
I decided to follow my father's rule of gardening....just throw a bunch of crap out there and see what happens. These are the results thus far:
I have no idea what this is. But we have a whole ton of them in our front flower bed next to our driveway.
This is a peony bush. We planted three (2 in the front beds and one in our backyard) and they are all growing. *fingers crossed!*
This is some kind of red dahlia I think.
We planted a bunch of begonias and lily-of-the-valley in another bed but I don't think any of those are growing. :-( That flower bed doesn't get much sun except in the late afternoon. Maybe we need to add some soil and fertilizer to that bed. We ripped out some old bushes that were there the first year we were in the house and now nothing else will grow there.
Our backyard is a rut filled disaster after we had to have a couple of big trees taken down due to carpenter ants. The trucks made a mess of it for sure. Our front yard is an overgrown dandelion filled mess though we did get the mower fixed and can mow this weekend. My garden is a wreck since the tree people had to "move" one of my raised beds to get the truck into the back yard (by move I mean take up the box and tromp/kick/spread all the dirt all over the woodchip mulch I had spread between the boxes. Sigh.
Thank goodness it is supposed to be nice this weekend so I can try to make things look better. So hopefully on Suncay night I will have made some progress in turning it back into something nice.
Next weekend, off to the farmer's market for seedlings.

no photos, but I've been working on my front garden and community garden plot a lot.
For the front garden I extended the beds and dug up a ton of sod, split a bunch of hosta and bought hydrangea, salvia, dianthus and silver mound and planted them. I also have pots of herbs on my porch (mint, basil, rosemary, lavendar and thyme).
In my community garden I planted corn, tomatoes, peppers (bell and jalapeno), eggplant, squach (spaghetti and butternut), zucchini, snap peas, beets, edamame and cucumbers.
Thanks Autumn. It's only been there for 2 years. It loves it location and is doing amazing. It almost tripled it's size. We had over 50 figs last year. This year we think we may have double that.
