In the next year: No real trips planned. Summer 2013 we may or may not be going to Ireland for a wedding for friends of ours.
Favorite vacation I've ever taken: Toss-up between 4, really: Honeymoon, a week in Aruba. Was wonderful bumming around. Southern Cross Guest Ranch, a weekend at an all-inclusive horse ranch. 4 hours a day of riding, and plenty of just lounging about.
The other two are from when I was younger: When I was like 12 or 13, we did a two week waterfall tour throughout Michigan. Just driving all over the state and checking out the waterfalls. A lot of fence-hopping and climbing happened.
Summer before my senior year of high school, we spent 10 days in the Keys, again, bumming around and just enjoying the wind and waves.
Bucket list: Greece, Ireland, Germany, Scotland, Alaska, Redwood forest, the Mediterranean coast of France (Marseille, Nice, Cannes, etc), most of the Carribean.
In next year, outside of family obligations and weddings (which do not count as vacations in my mind), we are planning a national park trip in Aug, location TBD. Next March, we will go to Brazil/Argentina or South Africa.
I have a few vacations that stand out in my mind as being particularly great. Brad and I went to Hawaii one year and that was an overall great experience. It was our first vacation after we moved in together and we just had a really great time. In college, I did a road trip up the coast of Australia with a group of friends and it was overall debauchery. Really fun.
On my bucket list... I want to go to all the National Parks. I'd really like to get down to Patagonia. I want to see the Great Wall of China and Petra. I want to take Brad to Italy and to West Africa.
As far as places that other people like and I don't, the only thing I can think of right now is Times Square. lol. Also, count me out of any vacation that involves a lot of laying on the beach.
What trips do you have planned in the next year? Nothing specific, but I'd like to go back East (NJ, NYC, &Boston, specifically) to visit family & friends. Maybe also Vegas for our anniversary.
What is your favorite vacation that you have ever taken? What made it so amazing? I can't think of just one. Kauai for our honeymoon was wonderful. We relaxed, we did some adventurous things, it was all around a well-balanced, relaxing, fun vacation. I also really loved both times I went to France. And Italy, during to know my relatives a bit more.
What places are on your bucket list to see? Ireland, Scotland, maybe a Scandinavian country, Tahiti, Fiji, somewhere I can see the aurora borealis, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, probably most of Europe, Egypt, Morocco, India...
What places do most people want to go to that you are absolutely positively just not interested in? That whole "backpacking through Asia" thing people were doing, or saying they should do, to find themselves. I mostly am scared of going to parts of Asia because I don't know what I'd eat (I hate being picky sometimes).
What trips do you have planned in the next year? We're still working on that. We were going to go to Williamsburg, VA next spring since we've never been in the spring (we've done fall, summer and winter). Now I know why... that's the main tourist season down there. We're still going to go, but I'm not sure when. Maybe in the winter.
What is your favorite vacation that you have ever taken? What made it so amazing? H and I had a two part honeymoon. We got married in CA, so we spent 4 days in Laguna Beach, 2 days in Hollywood (universal city walk, universal studios and such), and then drove up the PCH to San Simeon and spent two days touring Hearst Castle. Then, we went home for a day (we live in PA) and did laundry and re-packed. Then we drove down to VA and spent a week (including Thanksgiving) in Williamsburg. The whole thing was pretty cool... it was nice having zero family drama, especially over a holiday. We weren't home, so no one could compete for our presence. What places are on your bucket list to see? I don't have a bucket list... but I'd like to see Ireland, Germany and Poland. What places do most people want to go to that you are absolutely positively just not interested in? Mexico and Jamaica
ETA: I should add... I'm a lame-ass traveller. I haven't been to very many places and I don't have a passport.
What trips do you have planned in the next year? We're going up to DC in a couple of weeks (just for a weekend). We're also going up to coastal Maryland to see BF's extended family in July. Our only "real" vacation this year will be to western Virginia for a week in the mountains. That'll be in August.
What is your favorite vacation that you have ever taken? What made it so amazing? Ireland. I spent the majority of the 8 days there by myself, and it was fantastic. The hotel was in Dublin, but I would ride the trains to see other cities/places - I was able to cross a major thing off my bucket list (kiss the Blarney Stone). I also got to shop and linger in museums without someone pushing me along. In the evenings I'd head back to Dublin and hang out in the pubs. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
What places are on your bucket list to see? Paris. London. Athens. Italy. Alsace-Lorraine to research my family. Hawaii. South Africa.
What places do most people want to go to that you are absolutely positively just not interested in? Vegas. Southeast Asia. Northern Africa (Egypt, Morocco). Spain.
What trips do you have planned in the next year?I have a trip to Boston coming up next month and some honeymoonish type of trip for November. IDK where we will go or what we will do, it will really depend on available funds.
What is your favorite vacation that you have ever taken? What made it so amazing?I'm not sure it would be considered a "vacation" but it really was to me when I studied abroad in Australia. I had so much time to see a lot of things and explore the country. I loved it, the scenery and people were just completely awesome. I miss it. What places are on your bucket list to see? Definitely Italy, Greece, Africa, Japan, South America, Alaska, Grand Canyon... I could go on forever.
What places do most people want to go to that you are absolutely positively just not interested in?I'm not sure where the bulk of people want to go these days. I've been to Hawaii twice and while it was nice, I wouldn't mind visiting other places first before going back because I'm not a big beach person. I guess it's the same for any beach destination really.
What trips do you have planned in the next year? Bermuda in August. Then we'll probably do another cruise next year. I want to do the Panama Canal like whoa!
What is your favorite vacation that you have ever taken? What made it so amazing? Probably Ireland. It was my first time in a foreign country, I was 19 years old and saved for it like CRAZY. On top of it being an amazing country, we went to visit my best friend and her family (who are also like my family)
What places are on your bucket list to see? I still have a lot left! I really want to sail the Panama Canal (I want to go through the locks), Greece, England, Paris, Thailand, Australia, Amsterdam, New Zealand...
What places do most people want to go to that you are absolutely positively just not interested in? I really have no desire to go to places like China or Japan. I don't know why. And it's not that I WOULDN'T go... but maybe that I have so many other places on my list that are BEFORE that... that chances are I wont get there and it wont feel like a huge loss.
I am amending my best vacation ever. It was when I went on safari. I went by myself, but was part of a tour. We camped in the parks for 2 weeks and it was incredible. I had the best group. So much fun.
There are honestly so many places I want to go.
I'm a little saddened by all the non-interest in India. I would love to go back there one day. It's such a diverse country with so many beautiful places.
What trips do you have planned in the next year? We are going to Oahu in August, and just got back from Ireland and England in April. No big trips planned for 2013, although we do have $200 vouchers through United that we have to use before June of 2013, so we will probably go somewhere to use those up. What is your favorite vacation that you have ever taken? What made it so amazing? Our honeymoon to Paris. It was my first time out of the country, and I just completely adored France. It was completely magical, and we are talking about planning a trip back for our 10th anniversary.
What places are on your bucket list to see? Italy (Venice, Rome, Capri and Pompeii at the top of the list), Greece, Austria (Vienna), Croatia, back to Ireland to see the West Coast, Spain (Barcelona and Marbella), Switzerland, Costa Rica, Washington D.C and New York, NY.
What places do most people want to go to that you are absolutely positively just not interested in? This one is hard. I seriously would go just about anywhere. I am not huge on the idea of cruises and I think the only one I would actually want to do is to Alaska. I am not big on adventure travel, so anything that involves sleeping in tents and miles of hiking through jungle is probably not my cup of tea. I don't mind nature at all, I just wouldn't want that to be the sole purpose of the trip.
ETA: I totally forgot Africa on my bucket list. I need to do a safari at some point - haven't thought about what country I would like to go to for sure. I don't want to do S. Africa, so I am leaning towards Zimbabwe. It is supposed to have great amenities for tourists without being overly touristy, if that makes sense.
What is your favorite vacation that you have ever taken? What made it so amazing?
I went to Spain for 10 days in high school with my teacher and a few classmates. I loved it and really want to go back. It was such a beautiful and friendly country.
What places are on your bucket list to see?
Australia, Italy, more time in Spain.
What places do most people want to go to that you are absolutely positively just not interested in?
I know a lot of people who want to go, or had a blast going, on safari in Africa. I think it could be interesting, but there are so many other places I'd like to go, that it isn't really on my list.
What trips do you have planned in the next year? Going to the beach next week with family but I'll be working so it doesn't really count as vacation. I don't officially have anything planned but both my clients go-live 7/2 so I'll take some time off about two weeks after that and find some place to lose myself for a bit.
What is your favorite vacation that you have ever taken? What made it so amazing? I've traveled quite a bit but I think the best trip was my Napa wine tasting trip last fall. It was so awesome because I didn't have to lift a finger for planning purposes and EVERYTHING was taken care of once we got there. The group dynamic also really worked out well so that contributed to it being a great trip.
What places are on your bucket list to see? No places in particular. I'd pretty much like to go anywhere.
What places do most people want to go to that you are absolutely positively just not interested in? Hmmm...none.
