so I've been having issues charging my kindle fire, the port seems really loose and just not able to connect to charge, I purchased an additional usb charger thinking this might be the issue, but it's clearly the kindle....I contacted Amazon's customer service this morning and they're sending me a replacement free of charge! (I've had my original kindle for almost a year)
Really surprised, but I'm guessing this is some sort of design flaw and from the customer service forum Q & A I think a lot of other people were having the same issue...
My dog chewed up BIL's kindle last fall. I was so pissed because I thought that I was going to have to buy him a new kindle. Nope. He called Amazon, and they overnighted him a new one. Great customer service.
steph that's awesome! I would think I'd have to purchase another one too....I honestly think these devices are much like buying a printer, they're inexpensive enough but the return to amazon is much greater with the book purchases etc.
Amazon actually loses money on the Kindles but they are making TONS of money off the users on the Kindles. So they want you to have one that works so you will buy from them. Smart if you think about it.
By them losing money the actual Kindles are being sold at a loss or break even barely. They aren't making a profit off of the device itself.
Awesome! Mine will have issues charging from time to time, but its not constant yet. The charger for my Samsung phone seems to work way better than the charger the Kindle came with.

This happened to me after I had mine for 9 months - they first sent me a new charger to see if that was the problem and then replaced the Kindle when it still didn't work. I fucking love them.
