I went in her room to wake her up this morning, and it smelled like sour milk. She was happily babbling in her crib. I turned the light on, and omg. Puke all over her crib, her face, her hair, in her ears (omg). It was awful. I had to throw her in the bath and scrub her red because the vomit was so caked on. I checked on her at 10:30 last night before bed and she was fine, so it must have happened early this morning.
After her bath, she looked ok and seemed like she felt fine, but her eyes were super red and puffy. I nursed her and made sure she kept it down, and she did. I decided that I was going to take her to daycare since she didn't have a fever or anything. I picked her up and omg, the smell. She had the worst poop diaper EVER, in her whole life.
I'm about 99% sure she had a reaction to the snow peas I made her this week. She's been eating them for two days. :/ I feel bad. No more peas for a while.
Yeah, this sounds like a bug to me. That was how k was last August, puke everywhere and then the poops. Usually, when they react to a new food, you just see it in their poops. To be safe, I would keep her home.
She wasn't crying at all. She was actually super happy this morning. It was kinda funny to see her smiling up at me with puke all over her face, and me looking horrified. Lol.
I would also think it is the stomach flu, maybe her eyes were puffy from crying, or from the comit getting on her eyes while she slept in it (sorry). Hope she is feeling better soon!
And K never had a fever with her stomach bug, just puking and the runs. Also, she would go nearly 24 hours with no vomit and then get sick again. Be sure to clean everything really well, including your hands and go easy on foods. I would just keep her to breast milk until she is feeling better or at the most some rice cereal mixed with pedialyte.
I told daycare to call me if they felt like she was acting weird or didn't feel well. I guess I thought she was ok because she held her breakfast down and was happy and playing. Now I feel like I should go get her
Ok, I just called her teacher. She said M is fine, no fussing or anything and is napping right now. She took her 9:45am bottle fine and hasn't thrown up or had any bad diapers. Good, right?
They do have a rule like that, which is why I was honest with them. I have stayed home with her plenty, so I don't mind staying home with her but I honestly felt like she was fine. If she acted miserable and was crying, obviously I wouldn't have even thought about it. I thought I made the right decision :/
I have gone through RSV and ear infections, but never stomach issues, so I will know better from now on. H is going to get her at noon and will be with her this afternoon so he can keep an eye on her.
Oh and also, it can be super hard to tell if its a bug or not. Andy had a nasty stomach bug in March, and I swear he was his normal peppy self. The only time he acted weird was in the 5 minutes before he barfed....and after he barfed, he would go right back to playing.
Really, don't ever bring your kid to daycare if she's thrown up within the last 24 hours. They have these rules for a reason. Somewhere, two days from now, a mother with a puking baby is going to be cursing you.
This. I am still shaking my fist at Caroline's mom for my LO getting sick. Curse you Caroline's mom!
