You need a caulk gun. The cheap ones are $4ish and should be fine. I have two and my favorite one is the slightly upgraded $6 version. You can get them at any paint store or the big box stores.

You can buy it in a squeeze tube, but the caulk gun makes it so much easier. R annoys me because he refuses to buy one (a caulk gun) and then he complains BECAUSE HE CAN'T GET THE CAULK TO COME OUT EVENLY. Um. Sweetie? That's what the freaking $2 caulk gun is for - consistent pressure on the tube. *SIGH* But then, I'm content to let him do it his way, so ... maybe I'm just as bad.
I have used a small tube of squeeze caulk, not so good. Get a gun, then learn to use it.
#1 trick, when you pause, you have to release the pressure or the caulk will keep coming out. The constant pressure thing is a blessing and a curse. Great because it makes it easy for you to move right along and get a nice even bead. Curse when you forget to let off the pressure and end up with a mess.
