We are leaving in two weeks for FL. Sun-Sat. We have a cat that may as well be human to us. She hasn't ever been left alone for this long. We have a pet sitter coming once a day to feed her and stay for 20 min, but I feel so guilty about leaving her. She's 9 and I have severe separation anxiety.
I was thinking about getting a camera so I can check up on her when I feel guilty. The pet sitter texts us to check in each day, but I still have trouble enjoying my vacation knowing she's alone. So is getting a camera crazy?? I don't even know how they work, but I think f I can see her then I will feel better. Any tips to get over this guilt for leaving her? I know she'll be better at home then going somewhere else. I just feel terrible.

I was nervous/sad when we left our kittens to go to FL last year. They were 5 months at the time, so they were still babies. They were perfectly fine. My mom checked on them twice a day.
Honestly, she will probably sleep most of the time because, well, shes a cat. Having someone come in once a day is a great plan and will keep her happy. She might ignore you when you come home, but she will come around.

Not crazy at all to me. My cat is my baby. I have never left him in the apartment for longer than 16 or so hours. When I have traveled out of town I board him but he hates being boarded. I am going to Alaska for 2 weeks and I know he will be miserable if I board him.
I am so nervous to leave him but I have coworkers who will go over for a little bit at lunch, then a friend who said she will go over after work and eat dinner there and watch some TV too.
Still isn't making it any easier to leave him -- I looked into the camera thing but internet on boat (Cruise) is like $0.75/minute so too expensive to really check on him.
