We have an account for A. H and I are her only friends. We tag her in pictures and events. H thinks this is a good way to document her life. I think it's silly. I still keep my calendar.

That is definitely weird. I would never let DD have a FB profile right now. She's 8, and loves the ipad but knows she is not allowed to use the internet without me.
I guess I can see the games part of it, since like with candy crush you would use it to get lives and stuff. I don't know though. I mean, does it have like his photo and personal info? That would squick me out.

I should add, my niece has one at 7. It is fucking annoying. She goes on and likes everything. She also uses her moms account. I am on the verge of blocking SIL and niece
MH's young cousins friend-requested us and we ignored them because it made us really uneasy. Their mom is their FB friend so she knows what they're up to, at least.
My cousin's son has one. He is fascinated with computers (his dad is a programmer) and wanted one. His parents obviously have access and supervise it. It's cute to see him take pics and post them all by himself and stuff.
My DS is six and a half and there is no way he'll have a Facebook page even in six years, let alone six months. He's not even allowed on the computer at all except for his school math games and we watch him like a hawk even for that.

I think that until you're in HS you have no need for FB so a 7 yr old is way to young. With one caveat I have a friend who is from France and her husband is from the UK they have a son who is 3 and he has had a FB since he was born the only people on it are the Grandparents and family members who asked and still live over there and a few close friends. They use it as a way for them to be kept up to date and to post pics/video without it clogging up their own pages and annoying their friends who don't necessarily care that he did X or to see the 50 pics from their morning at the park. They have it locked down so only friends can see the stuff, yes I friended b/c I was curious after they told me, I've been friends with the wife since college so they approved it.
At seven the closest I came to having a FB was my AOL account, my username was Unicorns31 or something ridiculous like that. I didn't use it for anything but games. Every once in a while a creeper would im me and I would exit everything right away. I was very shy.
I could see someone letting their kid on FB for games but why they wouldn't have the kid stay anon or just use their parent's account?

Yes, I have to add that my cousin and his family live in Washington state, whereas all the extended family lives in Quebec. I think the kid has like 15 friends, all cousins/grandparents/aunts/uncles/etc.

This place. Makes me cry over my age. Every single day.
My SDs got Facebook pages around 8 or 9. DH has a huge family that they are close with so they used it to keep in touch and play the games. Now they barely log into it.
I don't have a problem with it. DH is an IT guy, he monitors all their internet activity, has blocks set up, has the internet disabled after 9 pm, they aren't allowed to use it out of sight from a parent, he has their passwords and their accounts are linked to his email so he gets all friend requests, notifications etc.

Yes, I think it's weird. I think Facebook is inappropriate for kids until they start high school. I actually liked it better when it was just for university students/alumni.

Yes it's weird. There is plenty of time for Facebook when the kid gets older. And by then, it probably will be something newer and cooler than Facebook anyway.
I remember getting our first computer at 6 and playing Little Howies Fun House on CD Rom as a kid.
I didn't get near the internet until I was around 8 or 9, when my cousin called me on the phone to ask me to ask my parent's to download AOL AIM (I still use it...lol) so we could talk!
I would not let a child have a FB. The only way I could see having one as a kid, is like a PP mentioned with using it as means to keep in touch with family and over sharing without clogging up your own wall. But even still, just adding family members or something. And the child wouldn't be in control of it.
