I have one because of DS. I'm not a big reader, so if there's a book I want, I buy it. DS checks out books occasionally when we go up for story time but it isn't a regular part of our routine.
Everyone with Kindles or iPads should definitely look to see what kind of options your library has for e-books. Many libraries use Overdrive and it is very simple. You don't have to step foot in the library and it will never be late because it disappears when it's due (unless you turn off the wireless - it can't take it back and you can finish your book!)

I love our library. I'll admit, before DD, we rarely went, but I pick up quite a bit of stuff for myself now too. Mostly cookbooks and other resource type stuff (health, beauty, diy, etc) but I just started getting audiobooks and love them. I used to be a big reader, but I just can't seem to sit down and concentrate on it. I listen to the books in the car and love it. We also get a lot of movies for both the tiny one and myself and plenty of books for her. The best thing though? The free activities for the kid. They have a really great, full schedule for little kids and it's awesome to do something fun for her without dropping a ton of cash on it. Really, they offer a full schedule for all ages, but the best stuff is the little kid stuff.
