Well here we go to Bunnings, but Man-Store/hardware stores drain all the energy and enthusiasm from my body as soon as I set foot in there. I tell DH it's like if I dragged him through Zara.
Unfortunately the kids love it already. Beau was all in his comfort zone pushing the damn little cart and DH & Cruz could ponder and browse for hours in there. I finally sat down in the garden section and tried not to look too pissed off.

I do not go. My eyes start bleeding as DH tried to converse with me about which screw would work best for this, and what type of glue he needs for that....ugh. C loves to go so it's become kind of a father/daughter thing they do together.

Ugh, THANK YOU. Exactly. I usually avoid going as well!

I hate it too because DH is not handy so we wander around until some 22 or 62 year old employee dude sees the deer in headlights look about us and bestows a mind numbing amount of information upon us.

Omg I love HD! I love looking at all the stuff I wish I had the money to do to my house! I do get bored when we spend too much time looking at power tools though
I love HD. H is not handy at all, I do all our home repair & maintenance. We only have a HD, no Lowes in our town (and only a Walmart, no Target. Our town is weird). The employees have never talked down to me, but I usually go in knowing exactly what I need.
Between work and home, I've spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in Home Depots all across this great nation of ours. I am a Home Depot ninja. I can get in, get what I want, and get out before most people can even find a parking spot. I'm kind of proud of my skills.
I have very little patience for going with DH. He takes too damn long.
I feel like you hit the nail on the head when you say it sucks out your energy as soon as you walk into HD. I feel that way, it's some kind of black hole! DH isn't handy either which thankfully means we rarely go.
H is also a GC, and I'm so used to going to Home Depot and Lowes it doesn't even faze me anymore. Once my input is given, I leave him to do whatever else he needs to do and I go off and look at the bathroom appliances and blinds. I have a strange obsession with finding the perfect blinds- don't ask.
I like going to Menards over Home depot, but probably b/c I went there so much as a kid with my parents (dad builds houses). I hate HD for a different reason. Just in general, the ones by me SUCK. Customer service and ppl that work there are idiots. That is all.
