It only took me 2 years from the time I got the barrel from a local dairy farmer to actually get the frame built and it the hardware installed and the thing painted. Better late than never, right?
Now to fill it with my compostable stuff so I can tumbling.

I want to make or buy a compost bin. The one option they had at Home Depot today was a box that I'm not sure even rotated or anything, and it was priced at $60 I think. Roughly how much did this cost you to make?
It was probably about $45-ish total but, isn't there always a but, I used scrap 2x4s that we had leftover from another project for the base, the metal bar in the middle of the barrel was left by the previous owners of our house and we already had the stain and deck screws.
Barrel was $20 and the hardware was about $25-ish (3 latches, 2 hinges, 4 large L brackets and the nuts and bolts to hold everything in place). Since it has been so long since I bought everything, that is a guess but pretty close I think. Maybe add another $10-15 if you had to buy the stuff I already had.
I wanted a tumbling composter since we don't have a ton of room for a multi bin turn yourself composting system and I liked that this is more mobile so in the winter, if I want to move it closer to the door so I don't have to trudge through the snow to add stuff I can do that.
ETA: Oh and $9 for 2 cans of flat black spray paint because my barrel was white and they suggest a darker color to help it heat up a bit. If you got a blue barrel, you wouldn't need to paint it.
