This weekend was insanely busy for me. On Friday, I spent the whole evening helping my mom set up for my little brother's graduation party, which was on Saturday. We had to make food and decorate the yard/garage, but I did get free food and beer out of helping set up, so that was a plus.
Then on Saturday, I spent from about noon until midnight at my brother's graduation party. It was so nice to see all of my family and family friends! It was also super weird seeing some of my brother's friends--many of whom I babysat while growing up--because they're all so mature and whatnot; I felt old. Also, my aunt, who passed away after a five year battle with breast cancer in November, gave me a wonderful, amazing birthday present yesterday that she'd set aside when she knew the end was coming. She gave me her favorite emerald and diamond ring, which was the first big gift my uncle gave her for her birthday after they were married. I remember wearing this ring always when growing up. I loved this ring when I was little. It was such a special surprise that I'll treasure forever. And what was so weird was that I was just telling DH that I wanted a dainty emerald ring for my birthday this year. I guess my aunt just knew me too well and took care of that for him!
Then today was my brother's graduation ceremony. Before the ceremony, DH and I spent about 4 hours outside landscaping and I got burnt. Overall, it was an awesome weekend. Now I just have to psych myself up for my last week of school before summer break, and figure out how to tell my students tomorrow (whom I teach for 3 years, not just 1) that I'm not going to be teaching at my school anymore next year since I got a new job... wish me luck!

I spent a ton of time in the veggie garden. Got all my tomatoes in, my bed is ready for peppers, and weeded all my early veggies (asparagus, strawberries, beets, onions, etc). I got so sunburnt in the places that I missed the sunscreen! Oops. It was awesome.
I also finished the front yard garden project, which was enlarging the garden bed and dividing some irises and day.illies to fill the new space. The irises look half dead right now, so hopefully they will come back ok.

I was solo parenting, but I went shopping Friday and ordered that jcp lamp. Then two friends came over Friday night and we made cookies & yogurt-covered pretzels (fail). I let DD 2 stay up as late as she wanted and she was actually really good and cute. Both friends are childless and really like her so it was fun.
Saturday morning we went shopping again and got new sheets. In the evening we went downtown and bought DD2 some new shoes and ate at a brewery and ppl watched.
Sunday I cleaned and purged and DH came home.
Good weekend! So glad to not be broke anymore. I could go shopping and get things we needed that I had been putting off too long!
We had pretty gloomy weather all weekend. It started drizzling Saturday at noon and isn't supposed to stop until mid-day tomorrow. I had planned on planting some silver mound in the front yard and a blueberry bush on the side yard, but I think they'll be okay until it's less soggy out.
We did make some progress in the kitchen. The cabinet doors are on and we put some fancy LED retrofits in the recessed cans which are pretty nice. I did not realize how complicated putting the doors back on the cabinets would be. I figured we'd just throw them up and put the screws back in. We spent most of today adjusting them.
I snuggled BFF's baby in Toronto until Saturday morning. I had lots of travel issues returning, but arrived home at 6 yesterday. DH surprised me with new outdoor lights, a beverage dispenser, napkins, and towels. We picked up pizza on the way home and ate on the deck, it was perfect.
Today we cooked a nice breakfast, worked out, and then ate lunch outside and ran a bunch of errands.
We spent yesterday morning listening to a boring presentation for a water treatment system. Then we went out to lunch, picked up a sample at Sherwin Williams, went to Home Depot and the liquor store. We planned to replace the screens and bought screen cloth and spline, but we drank margaritas instead. lol
Today we went to a couple of furniture stores (again...my 3rd trip in a week to the same stores), and bought a sofa bed thing for the office. We will use it in the living room until we can order/receive the living room furniture. We know what we want, but we want to wait for the house in CA to close first. We picked out fabrics for some of the pieces.
We went to Whole Foods today and bought foods that we hadn't found anywhere else we've looked. It was so nice to cook with things that made it feel familiar. I would kill for a Trader Joes.
I've been sick since Monday afternoon, and I'm finally getting over it. So, this weekend was basically laying around and doing nothing because just walking around a small-ish Target wore me out. At least I'm on the mend! I will completely own being a baby about my cold/whatever it is and buying dinner and/or lunch at Whole Foods every day since Friday night.
Friday was spent doing nothing, and we went to Target to pick up a few things on Saturday. We also picked up tickets for a MCM tour scheduled for next month.
Today we did our usual grocery shopping, went to Lowes and found some green gladiola bulbs on super discount, and went to HomeGoods on the advice of Boiler. At HG we picked up a few (sturdy) wire baskets to act as table bases for my wood table project. I found the right bases for them on eBay, but really didn't want to pay $70/base when I could spend barely anything for something that will work at HG.

My weekend has been so boring compared to you guys. I packed some boxes Saturday morning then came to work and pretty much the same thing today my mom did come visit this morning because they didn't have water and haven't since Friday night so she needed a shower lol
friday was my anniversary, but h and i were working opposite shifts so i didn't see him until midnight. i invited a few girls (teenagers!) over and we ate pizza, cookie dough, and watched Say Yes to the Dress. (they didn't know it was my anniversary, but i thought the food and television show choice was appropriately ironic.)
saturday we went to lunch at a new winery patio and it. was. so. good. then we stopped at a few more wineries... 12 bottles and a serious dent in our checking account later we came home and ordered papa johns, hahaa. we had a dance party, reread our vows, looked at wedding pictures. totally cheesy and perfect.
today we went shopping, h bought new steel toe work boots (holy expensive!) and i got a few things i needed to make more chalkboards. i worked on those this afternoon while h played video games. i'm making supper right now and then we're going to hang out (and drink) with our landlords in ~40 minutes.
it's long weekend in canada so we have tomorrow off too. we're going to work on purging a bit - continuing to "right size" our life, as i read the other night.
it has been a fan-freaking-tastic weekend. i don't want it to end.
We pressure-washed our front porch. Holy shitballs, what a difference. 8+ years of grime had built up and now it looks brand new. It took several hours because it was so dirty.
Now I need to decide whether to paint it with cement paint. Any thoughts? Would that make it easier to clean in the future?

Went to church, bought more tomato plants, then BBQ at friends house on Sunday Oh on Sat we went down to the beach and let the kids play. We where really lazy it was nice.
Saturday we took the kids to a vintage car race and I went to home depot after everyone else passed out when we got home
Sunday I had breakfast with my bestie, then built a redwood planter box. Then took the kids to a playdate and hung out in our friend's completely gorgeous backyard and lamented how much work we have put into our landscaping and how it will never be as beautiful as their giant, professionally designed / manicured garden space. Oh well, we ate pizza, watched the kids reenact the car races and enjoyed the time with friends we don't get to see often enough.

Weather was *beautiful*
Friday night, I honestly cannot remember what we did. We took the dog for a walk and went to bed early, but I think there must have been something else too. I think I'm prematurely aging.
Saturday, we drove to a town about 1/2 hour from here and ran (ok, ran/walked) a 10k, then we came home, showered, and went to our local "home show". We bought some planter boxes for the front yard for square-foot gardening there. Saturday night, we went to HD and then came home and watched tv.
Sunday, we slept in, then went to a local antiques fair, where I managed to accumulate the hardware for the linen dresser I'm painting for the bathroom (it should be done this week - woot!). The hardware is GORGEOUS and not at all what I originally had in mind. LOL I also painted the downstairs vanity and put two coats of paint on the dresser. I've got another coat or two today, then a little curing time, and I'm DONE! R finally got around to putting the antenna up on the outside of the house (we clamped it to the bathroom stinkpipe instead of getting a separate antenna tower) so now we get more than two channels! Ha.
