I've had my IUD for 1.5 years and for the most part have loved it. I haven't had a period since the initial bleading stopped, and usually have no real pms symptoms. Now my breasts are really really sensitive, and for the past 24 hours I've had this dull pain all around my mid section (stomach and back) but it's not really what I remember cramps to feel like. I've never been able to feel the strings, they were too short, but I had an ultrasound 6 mths ago and it was in place.
Has anyone else had anything like this? Im nervous that it going through the uterune wall or something. I took a hpt test and it was negative, am I just being paranoid?
I had Mirena for about a year and a half. I didn't have periods for a long time; I attribute that to the fact I was breastfeeding. About 18 months pp my cycles started back up. The ovulation part of those cycles was dramatic. I would get super crampy, sore breasts, and incredibly fatigued for about a week. I could tell the moment I ovulated, because the symptoms would lift immediately and 13 days later I would have my period. It was almost like the IUD was causing my body to struggle to ovulate or something. That's my theory, anyway. Maybe your body is trying to kick back into cycles? Eventually, the cycles of fatigue were too much and I had the IUD removed.
I also have bad pain like that... it wraps around my side. Like horrid O pain with kidney pain too. That's what it feels like. It's worse during O time so maybe that's it.
I've had it checked and they say it's normal. Ugh.
For this reason I want it out. Just waiting for DH to get snipped!
I've had Mirena for 3 years and haven't had a period since 3 months after I got it, but I do occasionally get cramps with it. Mine are never too bad, though (much less than my periods used to be), so if your pain level is high you might want to double-check with your doc.
