I had this last week, and someone suggested olive oil. It really worked. Good luck!
Do you just rub it on your hands and wash off?
I got in the bath, soaked and scrubbed my hands with soap and water and then soaked my hands in olive oil. It took away the burning in my hands, but some of the heat still lingered.
I had this SO bad once that soaking in a bowl of ice water was the only way I could stand it - I eventually made a paste of baking soda and water and scrubbed the shit out of my hands, and that worked. Good luck!
I think it's one of those things where your mind is on getting dinner done and by the time you realize your fingers are burning the shit out of you, it's too late.
I used to be nice about this, but fuck people! Lol. It took me one episode of jalapeño hands to learn to use the produce bag it came in like a glove for my non-knife hand.
I didn't know real people wore gloves while prepping. What kind of gloves? Latex? Rubber? I don't think I could prep with gloves.
I keep non latex gloves for when I prep meat or onions. For some reason I started loathing the smell of my hands after prepping any kind of chicken, beef , poultry or onions. It would literally make me gag. This has never bothered me before, just within the last year or so. Even after washing over and over I could still smell it.
The gloves aren't expensive and a box lasts a while. And they fit snug so don't get in the way.
Next time put olive oil on your fingers before you cut the peppers, it prevents the pepper oil or whatever from attaching to your skin and thus, protects it.
