I have a dark red wall to paint in my basement. Luckly it's only an accent wall and not the whole room! Typically I use the cashmere paint with a primer. Is the SuperPaint really good as a paint/primer in one? Would you recommend doing separate paint and primer, or all in one? I'm guessing I'm going to end up with three coats of something on the wall regardless, but it'd be awesome if the super paint would allow me to just do 2.
Red is the hardest color to paint over. I think it depends on what color you're going to. If you're going to white, I would guess you'll need at least two coats of the SuperPaint, maybe three.
I'm the laziest painter ever and try to go with as few coats as possible. I tried Behr Ultra (paint and primer) on a portion of my dining room wall that was dark mauve and three coats later, it still wasn't white. I went to SW and bought their Emerald line and one coat of that on top of the Behr was perfect.
I would give it a shot. Worst case scenario, you'll need a third coat.
I painted over red with Emerald paint. I did do two coats, but it was because our walls had a lot of texture and were a pita to cover no matter what paint / roller, not because there wasn't good coverage with the paint.
