This was only accentuated by the fact that all the college 3rd and 4th degree black belts have returned from school for the summer and I got stuck in class next to the 21 year old who just won the college national championships and came in 3rd at nationals this year. I hurt all over and may never breathe normally after tonight class. I'm old, people. OLD! Classes like this make me think I'll never ever get my black belt.
Good news is I no longer want to eat a plate of chocolate chip cookies or hurt my X.
Who else here does/did martial arts? I know there are at least a few. How do you push through this stuff?
I do not do martial arts, but your subject made me laugh for real. I'm glad you clarified that you are, indeed, not a ninja. And any excuse to use this is awesome.
What belt are you? My DS takes karate and I've thought about joining him in the family classes.
I'm testing for blue in two weeks. (our school is white, yellow, orange, green, purple, blue, red, high red, brown, high brown, black) So I'm about half way through, as far as the number of belts, after 15 months, but the last half will take about two more years. You should definitely try it. I started because I got tired of sitting and just watching DS do it.
I got my black belt in Tang Soo Do when I was in middle school (I practiced actively from 4 to about 15 or so), and I've taken classes sporadically since then. I really miss it, and I'd love to get back in, maybe as an instructor, but it's just finding the time.
