I start tending the shop on Saturday! I am nervous to leave the baby for that long but also relieved too. It's only six hours and I have been really struggling emotionally and mentally since opening my daycare again. I am surrounded by a houseful of toddlers and babies, and when they go home I still have my own kids to take care of and it's just wearing me down combined with sleep deprivation. I am having some mommy guilt about leaving them but they will be with their dad and I need some sort of escape before I wind up in the loony bin.
The shop is pretty quiet so basically my job is play around rearranging stuff, dust and sweep, and sip coffee and read. This is coming from the owner:)
These are a few if the things I will be selling. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but its what I love. I also know none of it is super original but honestly what is anymore in the world of Pinterest and blogs? No one around here does anything like this so hopefully some people like my stuff!
Cute stuff! I've also found it's all unique in IRL, just not on the internet.
Also, drop the mom guilt stat girl. You need it. You deserve. A break doing what you love will show your girls self confidence and independence down the line. You all know I work and send my kid to daycare because I need the outlet. There's no shame. At all. It's also great bonding time with their dad for fun activities.
Thanks girls! I am having so much fun making stuff- I am refinishing a coffee table and made some rag garlands and more wreaths....I am doing a baby mobile next!
I'm a bit jealous! I worked in retail (major pharmacy) years ago and really liked the retail work but it was the off hours and being young and single and not being able to go out with friends that I didn't like. And I love the stuff you are going to be selling which makes it even better! We have a store near me that sells that kind of stuff and if I had the time to work there a few hours a week, I just might do it! Good luck!!!
haha, well I already work 50 hours a week so adding another 12-18 hours a month, plus all the hours of making stuff doesn't exactly equal all fun, but I need some sort of escape/me time and this job will provide that, plus some extra cash hopefully.
