I'm running a 5k on Saturday and it starts two miles from my house, so I thought I would just run there as my warmup and run home as my cool down. But now I'm trying to figure out how this will work,
I was thinking I could just ask the race organizers to hold my shirt till I got done and then wear it home. Or I guess I don't really even need another race shirt.
Any tips if you have run to the start of a race before?
Drive there early, get your race paCket. Go home, drop off stuff. run to race
But the point of running to the start is so I can sleep in:). I like the tank top idea, I think it is supposed to only make it to 70 on Saturday, so I won't be too hot.
I'd either skip the shirt or do a tank top if that wouldn't be too hot. If the finish and start are at the same place, what about finding a corner to stash the shirt then come back for it. If it disappears it's not a great loss.
I've run to the start of a race before (it's about 1 mile). They had packets delivered to our work in advance and I just brought my phone with me, but I'm used to running with it.
I would totally do this. 2 miles is the perfect warm up. It may feel a little long for a cool-down if you race hard, but a longer cool down is a good thing in regards to recovery. Walking is totally OK as a cool down.
I would just wear a sports bra and then wear the shirt home. But tank top works, too. Also, you can put it in a bush and get it later.

This just made me realize I will be in the same situation for my 10k in June. Unless I can park closer than usual, I will have to trek back to my car to drop off my race stuff and shirt.
I've done this for races near my parents house, but then had them meet me with the kids after. I just left the shirt on the ground, and it was there when I finished. I probably would not have been devastated if someone walked off with it. Wearing the shirt home seems like a good idea.

If it's a small enough race and you don't care too much about the shirt, you could just leave it somewhere at the start and pick it up before running home. I've done this with my "throw away" shirt before races and always find it.

If I had your body I'd never wear shirts. (and I mean this in the least creepy way possible
I do this every Thanksgiving. They just let me pick up my bib and then get my shirt later. You could just stash the shirt in a bush or tree or something and carry it home.
