Isn't this usually a thing? I haven't heard anything about it this year. I believe it's usually $5 off a gallon and $20 off a five gallon. We're getting ready to schedule our two-story family room and foyer project but we have to supply the paint and I need 8 gallons. I was really hoping this promo would be running. Has anyone heard anything about it?
On a side note, I priced out SW and holy hell, even at 30% off it's like $40 a gallon! Is it really that much better? We used Behr for most of our old house and we were perfectly happy with it. I did a couple rooms at this house when SW was 40% off and honestly found it kind of difficult to paint with (we used the Superpaint formula).
I swear by SW Emerald for walls. The coverage is amazing - there are multiple rooms of this house where we've only done one coat and you'd never know it. It's also a lot less drippy which is good for me as a not-so-careful painter. I don't get the backspray that I did from Behr. I actually started using it because one wall in a high traffic area was originally painted with Behr and the paint was get scratched off from ordinary wear and tear. I went over it with the Emerald and haven't had a problem since.
I think Behr Ultra is just over $30 a can not on sale, and Emerald is around $37 or so on sale so the difference is negligible. I may have even saved money in the rooms where I got away with one coat instead of two. Honestly, even if the SW was $20 more a can I would still pay it. I'm convinced it's more durable and I really don't want to repaint any time soon.

See this is the debate I'm having with myself. We have to hire this job out because of the ceiling height and I want to make sure I get my money's worth. I want something I'm hopefully not going to have to repaint for like 10 years. So it does make sense to go with a higher quality paint in this case. I'm just having some sticker shock I think.
i have a toddler in my home that likes to challenge the durability of our wall paint reguarly (he's all boy). we only buy behr paint/primer and valspar's paint/primer but color match to SW and BM shades we like. i can honestly say that they have held up well for us.
We're currently having our two story rooms and ceilings painted. Our painter swears by Sherwin Williams Cashmere paints so that's what we're using. He said the problem he's had with Behr is the color fades, so if you do need to touch up down the road, it will be obvious where you did it. Whereas he hasn't ever had that problem with the Cashmere so that's what he sticks with now. I bought Emerald for the rest of the rooms we're doing ourselves. I believe we paid $35 a gallon with the 40% off sale which was so close to what we usually spend on Behr so I decided to give it a try. I'll post once I paint with it and let you know if I see a difference between the two.

Valspar at Lowe's is doing the $5 off a gallon through the 27th. We spent last evening pricing out paint.
I can't spend that much money on Sherwin Williams, I just can't.
My uncle is a painter and he recommended Pittsburgh paint for us, from Menards. The price is nice. Cheaper than the Valspar sale price. About $23 a gallon. So that's what we're going with.

I don't think Sherwin Williams is the be-all end-all of paints. Typically Valspar and Behr have been more highly rated in Consumer Reports, etc. I have always used Behr and Valspar and been pleased with the results, but paint is one of those things that people have strong opinions on, so take mine with a grain of salt. Have fun painting!

I painted our bathroom over a year ago with behr paint and primer in one. It's a west bathroom with a window that gets a lot of afternoon sun and there isn't any fading and it easily wiped.
